Rutgers University Correctional Health Care is seeking a Department Nurse Manager for the Southwoods State Prison, located in Bridgeton, New Jersey. The Department Nurse Manager has supervisory responsibilities for nurses across shifts on an assigned unit(s) at a facility on a consistent basis.

  • Collaborates with physicians, other health care personnel and interdepartmental personnel to ensure that the mission and objectives of the facility's health program are realized.

  • Maintains the standards of nursing practice/care and actualizes the philosophy, goals and objectives of the Nursing Service to staff, inmates and families.

  • Implements and directs the nursing function within the context of each Unit.

  • Assists the unit nurses in assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating unit activities which contribute to the quality of care of adult (18 to 64 years), and geriatric (65+) inmates in a safe and therapeutic environment.

  • Participates and provides leadership in quality assurance and quality improvement activities and provides training to staff and correctional officers.

VIEW JOBS 12/2/2021 12:00:00 AM 2022-03-02T00:00 Rutgers Correctional Health Care is seeking Per Diem Mental Health Staff Nurse for the Southwoods State Prison located in Bridgeton, New Jersey.    The Staff Nurse demonstrates competency in assessment and identification of the psychological and physical health of adults (18 to 64 years), and geriatrics (65+) all population groups and their personal strengths. Identifies inmate-centered goals and nursing objectives and implements prescribed interventions and solutions for the identified problems.    Among the key duties of this position are the following:  * Gives clinical care and manages all aspects of nursing care for inmates in the Department of Corrections' (DOC) facilities including adults (18 to 64 years), and geriatrics (65+) and their family.  * Uses psychiatric standards of nursing practice and classification of mental disorders: to develop inmate treatment plans with specific goals and interventions delineating nursing actions unique to each inmate's needs.  * Implements nursing actions that promote, maintain or restore physical and mental health of all age groups.  * Evaluates inmate responses in collaboration with multi-disciplinary care providers to ensure quality inmate care.  * Performs additional duties that are directly related to the workings of the milieu and its safety, as demonstrated by documentation in specific paperwork and by supervisory observations.
