Essential Job Functions:

  • Maintains, repairs, troubleshoots, modifies and installs various types of electronic equipment and related devices.

  • Applies technical knowledge of electronics principles in determining equipment malfunctions, and applies skill in restoring equipment operation, evaluates performance and reliability of prototype or production mode, and recommends changes in circuitry or installation specifications to simplify assembly and maintenance.

  • Applies advanced technical knowledge to solve complex problems that typically cannot be solved solely by referencing manufactures' manuals or similar documents.

  • Requires an understanding of the interrelationships of circuits, exercising independent judgment in performing such tasks as making circuit analyses, calculating wave forms, and tracing relationships in signal flow, using complex test instruments such as high frequency pulse generators, frequency synthesizers, distortion analyzers, and complex computer control equipment.

  • Applies technical knowledge of electronics principles in determining equipment malfunctions, and applies skill in restoring equipment operation, evaluates performance and reliability of prototype or production mode, and recommends changes in circuitry or installation specifications to simplify assembly and maintenance.

  • May provide technical guidance to lower level technicians.

Basic Job Functions:

  • Starts up all simulators at the beginning of training and shutting down all simulator at the end of training.

  • Keep training area clean and free of clutter.

  • Accurately maintain component and parts levels in storeroom and associated database.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Associate's Degree in Electronic Technology (or equivalent) from an accredited college or university or related military training and six years minimum in a related discipline.

  • Two years of increasingly complex and progressive experience in computer systems / networking, and simulation platform maintenance.

  • Personal computer theory and operations

  • 1 yr concentrated academic course/fault detect to board level; Electronics Principles

  • 1 yr concentrated academic course/fault detect to component level; Hydraulic systems theory and operations

  • 1 yr academic course/fault detect to replaceable unit; knowledge of Linux, Window XP, Windows 95 and Office software operations.

  • Converse orally and in writing with corporate administrative and technical personnel.

  • Must be able to travel as required.

  • Must be a U.S. citizen and able to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance as required.

Under minimal supervision provides hardware and applications front-line support to AHLTA/CHCS end users Interacts with network services, software systems engineering and/or applications development to restore service and/or identify core problems. Simulates or recreates user problems to resolve operating difficulties. Responsible for maintaining acceptable levels of customer satisfaction according to defined policies Works with engineers to resolve Tier 2 and Tier 3 support issues. Participates in new application rollouts, testing and special projects as needed. Provides technical support by performing installation, repair, and preventative maintenance of personal computer and related software/hardware. Trouble shoots software and hardware failures and identifies network problems when related to personal desktop computers. Activities include recognition, research, isolation, resolution, and follow-up steps. Screens, refers, and diagnoses internal inquiries and work requests as they relate to maintenance of end-user devices (EUDs), software, hardware, and firmware utilizing experience and understanding of MHS environment and MHS clinical systems.
