As a BASIS Literacy Teacher, you are the Learning Expert Teacher in a two-teacher, co-teaching environment. Partnered with a Subject Expert Teacher, you will use your expertise to address the differentiated needs of your students. Learning Expert Teachers (LETs) are masters of the learning process and of social-emotional growth in students. They accompany their students all day, from class to class, and ensure that the Subject Expert Teachers (SET) are reaching each and every child in the class. LETs also play a lead role in literacy and Connections classes. As a BASIS Learning Expert Teacher, you will utilize your expertise in elementary education teaching methods to provide individualized or small group instruction to meet the differentiated needs of students and establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to achieve a positive learning atmosphere.
In addition, you are responsible for providing literacy instruction to your students:
Foundational Reading Skills: A strong understanding and ability to explicitly teach foundational reading skills including phonics, phonemic awareness, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension (Foundational skills taught through Logic of English Curriculum)
Effective Decoding Techniques: Teaching strategies to decode words, enabling students to read with accuracy and speed
Fluency Development: Focusing on improving reading fluency through practice and expression
Vocabulary Instruction: Incorporating activities to enhance students' knowledge and understanding
Explicit Reading Comprehension instruction: Proficiency in teaching reading comprehension to help students understand texts
Teaching basic language skills: Ability to teach basic language skills, such as sentence structure, subject/verb agreement, and word pronunciation
Individualized Instruction: Skilled in providing individualized instruction to accommodate diverse learning needs within the classroom.
Assessment and Adaptation: Capabilities to assess students' progress and adapt teaching strategies accordingly to ensure effective literacy development
Data-Driven: Ability to analyze and interpret assessment data for effective interventions
Instruction Planning: planning, teaching, and evaluating instruction for students experiencing difficulty with reading and/or writing
Other Duties Include, But are not limited to:
Evaluating students' academic and social growth, keeping appropriate records, and preparing progress reports
Communicating with parents via email, conferences, and other means to discuss student progress
Identifying student needs and cooperating with the Subject Experts or other professional staff members in assessing and helping students solve health, attitude, and learning problems
Providing differentiated instruction and executing IEP's and 504 Plans with fidelity
Substitute/duty coverage as needed
Supervise students during classroom transitions throughout the day
Occasionally represent BASIS Ed Texas at designated school wide community events outside of typical school hours
Position Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications: Eligible to work in Texas Public Schools. A Bachelor's degree in Education or related subject. Ability to obtain a valid fingerprint clearance through TEA.
Preferred Qualifications: A minimum of 3 years of experience as an elementary educator. Master's degree in Education or related subject.

Benefits and Salary: Starting Teacher Salary is $41,000 and is negotiable dependent on education and experience. BASIS Ed offers a comprehensive benefits package.
