A tutor at the University College will work with University College students, one-on-one or in a small group to develop the student's academic skills and support them in their coursework and assignments.
Provide consistently high quality assistance to all students who request tutoring.
Behave in a professional manner.
Always respect the authority and expertise of the instructor and the right of the student to learn in an academically enriched, positive environment.
Maintain regular attendance, as scheduled, in the University College Tutoring Center.
Serve on committees.
Respect and maintain confidentiality, parameters of operation, professional protocols, and individual privacy.
Bachelor's degree in a related discipline.
Display a flexible, positive, customer service oriented attitude.
Previous tutoring experience.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Ability to function independently with a minimum of supervision.
Excellent customer service skills and a student-centered philosophy.
Ability to work a flexible schedule to accommodate student need.
Previous experience with adult learners.
Previous experience tutoring English Language learners.
At the University's discretion, the education and experience prerequisites may be excepted where the candidate can demonstrate, to the satisfaction of the University, an equivalent combination of education and experience specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position.
