Requirements

Job requirements:

  • Previous tutoring/teaching experience highly preferred
  • At least a Bachelor's degree
  • Ability to make learning fun and interactive, with the focus of the tutoring often determined by student questions and comments
  • Ability to pass a background check if required
  • This is a contract job. Tutors and teachers on our platform systematically receive opportunities as they come in based on experience, subjects offered, availability, etc.

We uplift and revitalize communities through the development of educational and other supportive partnerships.</p><p>The Team Member we are searching for</p><p>The ideal Tutor believes in, and is passionate about the mission and commitments of PUC Schools and exhibits this through their leadership, reflection, execution of school culture, and collaboration to ensure student success. The Tutor is responsible for facilitating small group instruction and providing one-on-one homework support to students in a safe and nurturing learning environment.</p><p>What youll need to accomplish:</p><ul><li><p>Prepare and supervise after school activities</p></li><li><p>Implement the program curriculum to ensure student growth for intervention and enrichment</p></li><li><p>Supervise and foster a safe and nurturing learning environment</p></li><li><p>Facilitate small group instruction and one on one homework support as identified by the Coordinator or Administrator</p></li><li><p>Implement enrichment activities such as clubs and sports</p></li><li><p>Prepare instructional, display, and work materials including cleaning and preparing the room before, during, and after the program</p></li><li><p>Assist in preparing and delivering snacks to the students as needed</p></li><li><p>Maintain accurate records such as attendance, time sheets, incident reports, and others as assigned by the coordinator or administrator</p></li><li><p>Report all student and parent concerns to the coordinator or administrator</p></li><li><p>Redirect inappropriate student behaviors and implement the program discipline system to effectively monitor and guide proper student behavior</p></li><li><p>Participate in professional development training, as necessary</p></li><li><p>Establish good relations with individual students and groups</p></li><li><p>Perform other duties as assigned</p></li></ul><p>What do we require from you?</p><p>Minimum Qualifications</p><p>Education:</p><ul><li><p>AA or higher preferred</p></li><li><p>High School degree or GED required</p></li></ul><p>Experience:</p><ul><li>Prior experience working with students in a learning environment, or be an education student working towards a teaching credential</li></ul><p>Skills and Abilities</p><ul><li><p>Proficient with Microsoft Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook</p></li><li><p>Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)</p></li><li><p>Alignment with core characteristics required of every PUC employee: pursuit of excellence, innovation, community, tenacity, and authenticity</p></li><li><p>Must be flexible and team-oriented</p></li><li><p>Able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment</p></li><li><p>Bilingual in Spanish preferred</p></li><li><p>Strong work ethic, accountability, and ownership of work</p></li><li><p>Regular attendance, dependability and, punctuality in conformance with the standards are essential to the successful performance of this position</p></li></ul><p>The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
