The Boring Company was founded to solve the problem of soul-destroying traffic by creating an underground network of tunnels. Today, we are creating the technology to increase tunneling speed and decrease costs by a factor of 10 or more with the ultimate goal of making Hyperloop adoption viable and enabling rapid transit across densely populated regions.
Create structural design and provide technical input of tunnels and underground structures.
Prepare design reports, calculations, drawings and specifications.
Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering
California Professional Engineering (PE) license
5+ years of experience in design and soil-structure interaction analysis for tunnels, shafts and underground structures.
Experience developing construction drawings, details and specifications.
Proficiency in reinforced concrete and structural steel design to ACI, AISC and AASHTO codes.
Preferred Skills and Experience
Master of Science in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in structural engineering.
5+ years of supervisory or personnel management experience.
Experience in AutoCAD.
Proficient in 3D Finite Element Structural Analysis (SAP2000).
Proficient in soil-structure interaction software (RS3, PLAXIS 3D).
Experience in seismic design and analysis of underground structures.
Strong verbal and communication skills.
Broad knowledge of TBM techniques, equipment, and standard procedures.
Position may require long hours and weekend work.
Able to travel for short and extended trips as needed. Up to 20% travel.
