The Department of Pharmacology at Tulane University School of Medicine is recruiting a Post-doctoral Fellow candidate to work in an exciting team environment. Our research focus is on mitochondrial function in cerebral microcirculation in the brain.

The position primarily involves independently performing experiments involving biochemistry and mitochondrial biology techniques. Expertise in performing experiments utilizing lab animals and cell cultures is critical. The diseases we study are stroke, diabetes, aging, and Alzheimer's; therefore, the applicant is expected to have a background in vascular physiology.

Additional knowledge and experience in breeding and maintaining genetically engineered mice colonies are required. The postdoctoral fellow will be involved in a variety of techniques including administering anesthesia and analgesics to animals, blood collection, animal tissue dissection/collection, confocal microscopy imaging, and free radical measurements. Preference will be given to applicants with proven experience in research in vascular biology/physiology.

The requirements for this position include having either a Ph.D. or M.D. or equivalent degree, a strong background in cardiovascular biology; research experience in biochemistry and mitochondrial biology; and experience in maintaining genetically engineered mice colonies is required.
