Who we are looking for: Tug Operator

Shift: Full Time

Location: Decherd, TN

Department: Operations

Reports To: Housekeeping Supervisor

Summary: Candidate will prepare and sort materials or products for recycling.

Responsibilities

  • Operate or tend hoists or winches to lift and pull loads using power-operate cable equipment.

  • Start engines of hoists or winches and use levers and pedals to wind or unwind cable on drums.

  • Pull dollies of material safely to the line promptly so as to not shut down the automotive industry line.

  • Deliver automotive parts to factory lineside

  • Operate heavy machinery such as fork trucks, scrubbers, etc. equipment

  • Operate a tugger to move parts from the loading bay to the staging area where forklift operators unload the parts.

  • May use liftin machinery to help move and sort waste

  • May pick materials from a moving conveyor

  • May sort waste and remove non-recyclable items

  • May Inspect materials for any contamination

  • May use ride-on equipment to clean factory floors/ pick up debris, sweep and mop designated warehouse areas, and clean handrails & Guardrails; other janitorial duties may apply

  • Loading boxed parts onto a pallet and storing them

  • Other cleaning duties as needed.

Qualifications • Must pass drug screen and background check. • A strong work ethic • The ability to work alone or within a team is a must

  • Training will be provided.

Education/Qualifications

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent

  • Six months of facilities experience preferred

  • Six months of manufacturing experience preferred

  • Forklift Certification within 90 days of job entry date

The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk for long distances; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs or ladder or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear, possibly in a noisy environment, must be able to wear PPE such as safety glasses, hearing protection wear necessary or safety toed boots. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 50 pounds.

Language Skills:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
