Under the direction of a Trust Tax manager, the Trust Tax Supervisor is responsible for the daily oversight of assigned staff, account loads, and delivery of tax compliance and consulting services for all accounts in assigned area of responsibility. Ensures business unit's compliance with applicable laws, regulations, regulatory requirements and Bank policies and procedures, including but not limited to those related to Fair Banking, Anti-Money Laundering laws and regulations, Bank Secrecy Act and USA PATRIOT Act.
Effectively and efficiently reviews accurate tax returns including individual, corporate, partnership, non-profit, trust, estate and gift on a timely basis. Demonstrates a clear understanding of the Federal, state, and local tax laws. Analyzes accounts for estimated income taxes and minimizes the amount of related underpayment penalties
Supports the Trust Tax Officers in resolving complex issues and research projects. Finalizes work product on a timely basis, including a well-documented presentation of issues identified and resolved. Oversees the client engagement and directly interacts with the client when there is a direct client relationship. Through these interactions effectively identifies and pursues new business opportunities.
Maintenance of engagements including timekeeping, due date tracking, account set-up and account closing.
Manage engagement budget and work in process to ensure engagements are profitable. Communicates effectively with internal and external clients the progress of engagements.
Assists in developing and executing processes which provide for the delivery of tax compliance and consulting services of the highest quality for all accounts in a timely, accurate and efficient manner. Develops innovative solutions for complicated, specialized or new tax issues while utilizing sound business judgment.
Assists in implementing and achieving profitability goals with the Trust Tax Department's financial goals. Assists in managing error and omission expense within established Trust Tax Department guidelines.
Demonstrates and effectively communicates in-depth tax technical expertise and serves as a resource for Trust Services Group (TSG) and the Bank as a whole; utilizes expertise to create tax planning opportunities; enhances professional knowledge and in-depth expertise through continuing professional education.
Responsible for the management of all employees in the team including staffing and scheduling, compensation, performance management, training and development. Goal is to attract, retain and motivate the team to achieve management business objectives and maintain a favorable employee relations climate. Responsible for the timely and effective management of Human Resources forms and documents relevant to immediate staff.
Identifies and implements opportunities to enhance performance, efficiency and management through technology
Monitor issues with the IRS and other taxing authorities to ensure that they are properly resolved in a timely manner.
Performs other miscellaneous duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Education: Bachelor's degree in accounting from an accredited institution or equivalent work experience. Master's degree in accounting, taxation preferred. Must be a CPA or Enrolled Agent.
Experience: Minimum 6 years of relevant experience in taxation or Master's degree in taxation with 4 years of related experience in taxation or equivalent work experience, and demonstrated 2 years of supervisory experience. Strong knowledge and experience with income tax provisions with an emphasis on estate tax issues. Experience in the retirement, investment or financial services field preferred.
Technical Skills:Demonstrated proficiency and expertise with personal computers and Microsoft applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint) or similar software. Knowledge of or ability to use Bank software and systems. Requiresstrong spreadsheet proficiency and analytical skill-set.

Ability to recognize and build strong client and working relationships with a collaborative and consultative approach. Should be committed to meet deadlines, flexible enough to handle multiple shifting priorities and possess good project management skills. Must be able to work flexible hours to include evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
