Trust & Estates Associate Attorney

Our client, a highly respected multi-service law firm is seeking a Trust & Estates Associate Attorney, to join their winning team in Orange County. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Consult with clients to understand their unique needs and objectives for estate planning. Draft wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and other legal documents in accordance with client instructions and applicable laws. Assist trustees and beneficiaries with the administration of trusts, including asset management and distribution.

Guide clients through the probate process, from validating wills to resolving disputes among heirs or beneficiaries. Address legal issues affecting older adults, such as long-term care and Medicaid planning and guardianship proceedings. Represent clients in trust and estate litigation, including will contests and breach of fiduciary duty claims.

Attend relevant events and conduct educational seminars for potential clients. KEY QUALIFICATIONS: The successful candidate must possess:

A Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school. Admission to the state bar in good standing. 3 – 5 years of experience practicing Trust and Estate Planning. Ability to cultivate and maintain relationships with clients and legal professionals.

Strong communication and organization skills.

Ability to draft and review estate plans for clients, from simple to complex and advanced estate, gift, and tax plans. Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.

Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion. Attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving abilities. Public speaking skills.

Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, and PerfectLaw preferred. Must be able to work onsite at our Walden, NY office. NICE TO HAVE:
