We are looking for Truck/Trailer Mechanic to join our Maintenance team. The Truck/Trailer Mechanic will repair heavy duty trucks/trailers by inspecting for problems or responding to mechanical problems noted by drivers. They will inspect, service and repair all over-the-road trailers, including van trailers and reefer trailers. Also, perform daily yard check of equipment and perform "A", "B", and "C" services as per checklist.
High school Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
Technical or diesel training or one-year experience; prefer trailer and truck mechanic experience
Prefer welding experience
Basic data entry and computer skills
Ability to pass pre-employment drug test.
No convictions of serious crimes or felonies. However, a conviction is not an automatic disqualification of employment.
Have valid driver's license; prefer CDL.
Certified brake inspector.
Certified Federal Inspector.
Certified forklift operator.
ASE certified for Freon.
Possess necessary mechanic's tools.
Ability to work independently; initiative; self-starter.
Ability to use TMT maintenance software
Ability to plan and organize workload; flexibility to handle pressure and work with interruptions and meet deadlines; attention to detail.
Ability to handle multiple priorities.
Ability to work flexible hours as needed.
Willingness to learn and accept responsibility for training courses, both as designated by management as well as sought out independently.
Knowledge of DOT regulations and familiarity with OSHA regulations.
Inspects truck/trailers for problems and repairs same. Also makes needed repairs as noted by drivers.
Conducts air pressure, light checks on all units.
Services and repairs all defects discovered during inspection prior to dispatch, including tires.
Makes all emergency repairs on an as needed basis.
Applies equipment markings to trailers.
Active involvement in OEM training and warranty as outlined by management.
Performs repairs of Classes B and C.
Performs computer diagnostics using manufactures specific software.
Drives trucks/trailers to and from facility yard and shop area.
Responds to breakdowns when needed.
Documents all work, parts charges and time in TMT maintenance software
Prepares documentation in conformance with DOT regulations and FMCSR requirements.
Works in all areas of Shop.
Keeps work area clean and free of safety hazards; handles all job duties according to Company's safety procedures.
Demonstrates support to the Epes Transport System, LLC Quality Management System and its objectives, as applicable.
Other duties as may be assigned.
