Shop Technicians diagnose, service, and repair engines, construction, mining, power systems equipment and trucks.


Performs troubleshooting and inspection of customer equipment and trucks, using testing and diagnostic equipment; removes, repairs, and/or replaces components and parts on engine, hydraulic, brake, air, fuel, transmission/powertrain, and electrical systems, while following company standards for work quality and safety; uses a computer to prepare and submit accurate service reports within established timeframes; works with customers and supervisory staff in a professional manner to maintain workflow and meet production requirements; reads and interprets parts books, service manuals and electrical/hydraulic system schematics; follows all Contamination Control guidelines.


Operates industrial equipment, trucks and machinery to ensure proper operation following service and/or repair; performs other duties as assigned.



Knowledge of diesel mechanics and hydraulics systems, demonstrated mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability; ability to safely perform work, including crane and rigging procedures; ability to work in a team environment and demonstrate effective use of available resources; ability to operate a wide variety of tools and equipment; ability to work with customers, vendors, and coworkers in a safe and courteous manner; ability to safely operate motor vehicles and job-related equipment; ability to demonstrate professional verbal and written communications skills (including reading, writing, and understanding English); basic math computation skill; basic computer skill.

Education/Formal Training/Licensing


Experience performing maintenance and repair on multiple types of construction/mining equipment, power systems, trucks and heavy industrial/diesel engines and hydraulic systems preferred. Direct experience with Caterpillar equipment preferred.


Hand/power tools; measuring tools; personal computer; mobile phone; overhead crane/hoist; lifting slings/chains; electronic testing equipment; hydraulic testing equipment; oxy/acetylene torch and welders; other specialized tooling and equipment; company vehicles; personal protective equipment/clothing.


  • Outdoor and indoor environments, moderate to loud noise levels

  • Standing for long periods on concrete or other hard surfaces; walking over rough and uneven terrain

  • Frequent bending, kneeling, squatting, and climbing

  • Frequent use of ladders and steps for accessing equipment

  • Frequent lifting up to 50lbs with or without assistance

  • Frequent use of hands for simple grasping, pushing, pulling, manipulating tools/objects, and writing/typing

  • Some exposure to all outdoor weather conditions

  • Frequent exposure to substances, including/not limited to: industrial chemicals, hydraulic fluid, grease, oil and dirt

  • Some exposure to dangerous environments, including mine sites and construction sites required

  • Overtime, varying schedules, and overnight stays away from home may be required

VIEW JOBS 4/17/2019 12:00:00 AM 2019-07-16T00:00 Job Description Oil/Lube Technician As an Oil / Lube Technician, you will provide accurate and efficient service to customers by diagnosing wear conditions, and together with TSA or Manager, make recommendations to customers. Draining oil from crankcase and refilling crankcase with required amount and type of oil. Removing and replacing oil and air filters. Lubricating moving parts of diesel engine trucks and inspecting fluid level of steering gear, power steering reservoir, transmission, differentials and axle housings. Inspecting and treating coolant to specification. Inspecting and testing batteries. Checking air pressure of tires and completing tire repair and replacement services using the Tire Industry Association procedures. You will also complete repairs within your capabilities and as written. Efficiently use all shop equipment. Provide your own hand tools. All work must be completed in a safe, reasonable and responsible manner following company policies. You will be required to have a "whatever needs to be done" work ethic and attitude, be mechanically inclined, and a team player with neat clean appearance. You should be self-motivated, dependable and work well with others. Some janitorial work is required by all employees to maintain a clean and safe work environment.
