A Day in The Life of a CDL Truck Driver

As a CDL Truck Driver you will be responsible for transporting cargo to and from specified destinations. You will prepare, receive, and provide appropriate documentation for the delivery or pick-up of goods to ensure timely service.

  • Must have a "satisfactory" driving record. Must have CDL Classification/Certification. Requires applicable truck driver license for state.

  • Drive a truck with capacity up to three tons and usually six wheels to transport materials

  • Load, secure, verify, and unload cargo

  • Prepare delivery schedule

  • Deliver materials to locations designated by the customer

  • Obtain customer's signature for proof of delivery and help to unload truck

  • Perform the duties of Warehouse Associate when not driving the truck and making deliveries

Education & Experience

  • High school degree or equivalent required

  • Must have a valid CDL License

  • 2 years required of truck driving experience

Skills & Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

  • Ability to be on your feet for extended periods

  • Vision - near, far, night

  • Ability to detect or tell differences between sounds varying in pitch and loudness

  • Ability to quickly respond (with hand, finger, foot) to signals (sound, light, picture) when it appears

For additional information about our company, visit our website at</p><p>POSITION SCOPE</p><p>The CDL Class A Bulk Truck Driver is a safety sensitive position responsible for transporting hazardous materials to the job site and signing out the materials. The drivers will be exposed to different situations and equipment in performing their assigned task. They will be responsible for maintaining their assigned equipment. Drivers will be required to travel overnight to job sites through-out Arizona and in some cases out-of-state. During overnight travel Drivers will earn an additional $25 per diem - per work day.</p><p>PRIMARY DUTIES</p><ul><li><p>Loads and unloads tanker with hazardous materials, both bulk and various package styles adhering to all Company and DOT regulations</p></li><li><p>Operates bulk tanker trucks according to Company policies and state/federal laws</p></li><li><p>Transports load over required route to proper destination, observing all traffic laws and DOT safety regulations</p></li><li><p>Completes and transmits all paperwork in compliance with established Company procedures</p></li><li><p>Performs safety inspections on trucks, equipment and/or facilities as required by Company policy and DOT regulations</p></li><li><p>Maintains miscellaneous service duties such as checking, on a daily basis, oil, water, fuel, tires and tank related items</p></li><li><p>Reports any equipment malfunctions/concerns to Fleet Manager or Driver Manager</p></li><li><p>Knowledge of and the ability to use auxiliary pumps for loading and unloading of vehicle and use spill kits and fire extinguisher</p></li><li><p>Ability to read and review permit for route, special considerations, and safety provisions</p></li><li><p>Assistance with setup and tear down of operations as well as the knowledge of how to operate heavy equipment for loading and unloading at job sites</p></li><li><p>Overnight travel will be required</p></li><li><p>Safety, Safety, Safety comply with all DOT and company policies, procedures, and standards of safety</p></li><li><p>Other duties as assigned</p></li></ul><p>BACKGROUND</p><ul><li><p>Must be at least 21 years old</p></li><li><p>Valid Class A CDL with hazmat and tanker endorsements is required</p></li><li><p>Valid DOT Medical Examiner's Certificate is required</p></li><li><p>M.S.H.A. 5000-23 certificate part 46 and part 48 or willingness to obtain certification - company will pay for certification</p></li><li><p>Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug test and federal criminal background check</p></li><li><p>Acceptable MVR in accordance with Fisher's Company Vehicle Program policy is required</p></li><li><p>Ability to complete work tasks under various adverse weather conditions including heat in excess of 100 degrees, cold, rain, and snow</p></li><li><p>Ability to operate equipment in adverse weather conditions and on steep and rough terrains is required</p></li><li><p>Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs</p></li></ul><p>Fisher Industries is an Equal Employment Opportunity Employer and an Equal Opportunity Employer of Individuals with Disabilities and Protected Veterans.</p><p>Pre-employment physical and drug testing are required.</p><p>If you require an accommodation to apply, please email to request it.
