Summary of Job Duties:

The Parenting Program Practitioner is responsible for implementing the contracted parenting program in partnership with the Division of Children and Families Services. The Parenting Program Educator will be trained and accredited in contracted parenting program models. The Parenting Program Educator will be responsible for working with a training team that will consider the individual needs of families referred to the program and will tailor the programming accordingly. This full-time, annually renewed grant-funded position is directly responsible to the Parenting Program Director. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.

Qualifications:

Required Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in social work, education, psychology, or a related field;

  • One (1) year of experience in a human service organization;

  • Experience in facilitating classes or groups;

  • Work outside regular business hours will be required.

Preferred Education and/or Experience:

  • Two (2) or more years of direct experience leading groups of parents and/or children across diverse populations and settings.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Will be trained and accredited in the contracted parenting program models;

  • Facilitate contracted parenting program curriculum;

  • Engage parents and children in activities that are complementary to the parenting program models;

  • Communicate; with program participants and DCFS staff (phone, email, mail) between sessions, as needed;

  • Work with the education team to evaluate the individual needs of families in the program and tailor programming accordingly (ie.-needed accommodations);

  • Assist in the referral process from DCFS;

  • Receive weekly supervision and problem-solve issues that may arise;

  • Complete program documentation, evaluation, and reporting requirements;

  • Facilitate contracted parenting program in-person and via virtual platforms, as required;

  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent skills in facilitating groups from diverse backgrounds;

  • Skills in working with parents, children, and teens in groups and one-on-one;

  • Skills in conducting home visits;

  • Ability to use assessment tools/collect data;

  • Ability to travel in-state with some overnight stays;

  • Knowledge of training program development and presentation techniques;

  • Knowledge of teaching principles and methods;

  • Ability to research, develop, evaluate, and adapt training programs to meet the needs of families;

  • Ability to coordinate and conduct training programs;

  • Ability to prepare reports, maintain records, and ensure documentation in compliance with program deliverables;

  • Ability to present ideas and information to large and diverse groups;

  • Computer skills, including Microsoft Office and ability to operate AV equipment;

  • Other duties as required or assigned.

Additional Information:

Salary Information:

$45,000 - $48,500
