Position Title: TRIO Upward Bound Residential Hall Staff

Department: TRIO Upward Bound

Reports To: Director of TRIO Upward Bound

Classification: Non-Exempt

Essential Job Duties:

1.Leadership

• Live in residence hall and supervise student residential life

• Maintain a safe and healthy residential experience and environment

• Supervise recreational and cultural activities

• Maintain an environment conducive to student well-being

• Work afternoon, overnight, and/or early morning shifts, when scheduled

• Ensure students and staff are following all St. Olaf and UB rules and guidelines

• Other duties assigned

2.Collaboration

• Assist program staff with compiling and entering data and other documentation

• Work closely and collaboratively with fellow UB staff

• Assist the UB leadership team with other documents/tasks, as requested

• Maintain relationships with faculty, staff, and the St. Olaf community

• Participate in recreational, program, and cultural activities

• Assist with program needs and requests

• Attend daily staff meeting

3.Supervision

• Facilitate and coordinate UB activities

• Supervise all summer participants to ensure safety, rules, and a positive experience

• Report all and any student/staff concerns immediately to the program director

4.Support, respect, and commit to embracing diverse backgrounds, values, and points of view to build a strong and inclusive community

5.Complete and meet deadlines for required training and performance management cycle

6.Perform other duties as assigned

Work Schedule:

Term: Temp (June-July)

Shift: During the academic summer program, the standard work-week schedule is Sunday - Friday; however, extra hours are required for this position, including on-call hours during programming

Required Qualifications:

• Current undergraduate or graduate student

• Ability to establish good rapport with students

• Commitment to program goals

• Experience working with others (high school students)

• Ability to assist the UB full-time team

• Ability to supervise recreational and cultural activities

Experience: 1+ years related experience, preferably with a diverse student body; personal background/familiarity with students with similar backgrounds to those in TRIO (ex. low-income, first-generation in their families to obtain a college degree); previous supervision experience

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience: St. Olaf College UB experience, previous supervision experience

Prerequisites:

Employment in this position is conditioned upon successful completion of a background check which may include: criminal background checks, reference checks, verification of work history, verification of any required academic credentials, licenses, and/or certifications, a motor vehicle check, verification of DOT certification, a credit check, employment eligibility verification, and/or a pre-employment physical.
