Rutgers University- Newark (RU-N), an urban public research university and anchor institution, located in Newark, New Jersey, a city of promise is seeking instructors for multiple positions within the federal TRiO Programs (Talent Search and Upward Bound) reports to the Director of TRIO and Precollege Programs. The instructor positions are a part-time.

This position is responsible for and not limited to the following:

• Providing instruction in Composition & Literature, Mathematics, Science, and various elective courses for grades 9-12.

• The summer programs operate from late June to mid-August and are offered Monday-Friday.

• Our academic year programs align with the academic calendars of the Newark, East Orange, and Orange school districts. They are offered every other Saturday.

Position Status Part Time Hours Per Week 19.5 Daily Work Shift Work Arrangement

This position requires a fully on-site work arrangement. (Approval not required)

FLSA Nonexempt Position Salary $25-$35 per hour Payroll Designation PeopleSoft Terms of Appointment Temporary Staff Appointment - Hourly

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience

• Requires a Bachelor's degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

• Requires up to two years relevant experience in an administrative function, good communication and interpersonal skills, and computer literacy.

Certifications/Licenses Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred

• Teaching experience, Licensing, and Credentials

• Experience with low-income, first-generation populations

• Demonstrated teaching philosophy and methods that encourage the development of active and independent learning

• Lab Experience Requested (for Science courses)

• Content knowledge required based on academic discipline.
