As a Trenchless Crossings Professional, your key responsibilities will be to assist in trenchless construction projects. This position will be field based and could be anywhere within the Continental United States. We are seeking Laborers, Operators, Foreman and Superintendents.

What it takes:

  • Trenchless industry experience

  • Auger Boring, Guided Boring, Direct Pipe and Microtunneling experience

  • Travel required. Position may require extended travel, meaning the travel may account for up to 100% of the time and/or limit the ability to return home during off time.

  • A valid driver license for the type(s) of vehicles you may be driving and an acceptable driving record

  • A Commercial Driver's License with tanker endorsement or the ability to obtain (desired)

This position is pending a reclassification from a Professional Engineer II to an Engineering Specialist IV. In carrying out the duties of this position, the incumbent is expected at all times to be aware of and abide by the Department's Standards of Conduct, as well as any and all departmental and/or work unit rules, directives, policies, procedures, and/or general orders applicable to performing the duties of this position. This position involves technical work in the permitting and waste cleanup program and requires knowledge and experience in the fields of groundwater hydrology, stormwater management, assessment/remediation and the application of Department rules and statutes to these areas. Actively supports and works toward fulfilling the Agency's Affirmative Action objectives. This position involves technical work in the permitting and waste cleanup program and the application of Department rules and statutes in these areas. * Review and evaluate permit applications and/or waste cleanup documents for conformance to Federal and State of Florida rules and regulations. * Performs site inspections, as necessary, in support of reviews and evaluations. * Write requests for additional information and/or approvals for management for waste cleanup documents within time frames provided in Department rules, guidance and procedures. * Work towards achieving Business Plan goals. * Ensure that the data entry corresponding to all assigned projects is entered into the department's databases (COMET/ERIC) and Oculus timely and appropriately, consistent with standard operating procedures. * Provide technical engineering assistance to Compliance Assurance Program. * Initiate waste cleanup enforcement action (if assigned). Provide regulatory assistance, such as outreach, permitting determinations and exemptions, to permittees and/or company representatives, other FDEP programs, delegated local programs, and other interested parties. Mentoring staff on application/cleanup document reviews, conducting peer reviews, and/or approving documents on behalf of the administrator if required. Skilled at training and mentoring. * Knowledge of the concepts, terminology and general principles of hydrology, Florida geology, and acceptable well drilling techniques. * Knowledge about groundwater and soil sampling. * Knowledge of stormwater management system design and operation criteria. * Knowledge of hazardous waste regulations. * A Bachelor's degree with a major in one of the engineering specialties and/or work experience in preparing/reviewing site assessment/remediation reports pursuant to 62-780, F.A.C. is preferred. * Knowledge in design of remedial technologies for contamination sites.
