The Sr Manager of Treasury provides strategic leadership to the treasury department. Leads all operational activities of the department including strategy development and implementation; operating plans and budgets; value generation initiatives; policies, procedures, systems, and reporting. Builds and manages a high performance team to achieve department objectives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the enterprise's liquidity management: (1) accurate and consistent positioning of the cash balance; (2) short-term borrowing and investing decisioning; (3) depository accounts cash concentration; (4) review, approve, and release electronic disbursements; (5) distribute a weekly liquidity snapshot to the management team; and (6) identify opportunities to improve and streamline all liquidity practices.

  • Develops and maintains a cash flow forecast; diligently works to enhance accuracy and usefulness of the forecast by leveraging data analysis techniques and utilizing available internal and external data sources that may provide insights into the cash conversion processes.

  • Ensures proper controls exist over cash receipts, disbursements, and general treasury activities: (1) identifies and remedies any potential opportunities for fraudulent behavior; and (2) and maintains and supports treasury policies, procedures, and controls.

  • Assumes the system administrator role for all key applications in the treasury area.

  • Responsible for the enterprise's bank account management (BAM): (1) executes and maintains rigid controls over the opening, closing, and service modifications of accounts at various financial institutions; (2) maintains a database of the organization's accounts including signatories; and (3) negotiates and manages the accounts' services and fees, including periodic request for proposal (RFP) submittals.

  • Assumes responsibility for the enterprise-wide cash flows and cash balances and engineer methods to incorporate and/or concentrate affiliate activity into one cash platform.

  • Stays up-to-date on available financial/banking tools that may benefit the organization, remembering to justify (and quantify) any additional risk the may be introduced with the tools; work with corporate procurement to coordinate any necessary request for proposals (RFPs).

  • Oversees debt management within the firm: (1) supports debt contract negotiations and renegotiations; (2) recommends and implements monthly prepayment and rollover actions; (3) verifies bank-generated interest payments and submit payment requests; and (4) ensures adherence to the loan contract terms and assists with preparation of the quarterly covenant compliance memo.

  • Manages the bank fee analysis program: (1) ensures fees being charged by banks are as-agreed upon; (2) studies methods to streamline the process and allow for easier comparisons between banks; and (3) recommends cost improvement approaches and better cost allocation methods to the stores.

  • Develops into the subject matter expert within Discount Tire for the plastic (card) industry: (1) becomes knowledgeable about the end-to-end processes/procedures involved in the firm's plastic transactions; (2) reviews interchange results and recommends actions to achieve cheaper levels and/or prevent costly downgrades; and (3) stays informed on industry changes and communicates how any changes may impact the Discount Tire/Tire Rack's cost structure or transaction processing methodology.

  • Administers the company-wide purchasing card program: (1) manages the relationship with the program provider including periodic vendor reviews; (2) stays informed of developments in similar card programs and challenges the service provider for new ideas and enhancements; (3) benchmarks the program (cost, rebates, application, and benefits) against comparable programs; and (4) conducts RFP efforts when appropriate.

  • Demonstrates leadership and training skills to further develop talent within the department and monitor the treasury department's budget and expenses.

  • Provides direction and feedback on the day-to-day activities of employees. Conducts performance reviews

  • Communicates clear job expectations, goals, and development opportunities to employees

  • Prepares employee development plans; recommends appropriate action to upper management

  • Serves as an escalation point for interpersonal and operational employee challenges

  • Monitors department projects to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget and to agreed quality level. Monitors and adjusts employee workloads

  • Gathers, tracks and reports department attainment of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to upper management.

  • Ensures Company procedures are followed, including the tracking and publishing of metrics

  • Works collaboratively across departments to identify and resolve risks, conflicts, and challenges, recommends resolution and implementing process improvements

  • Stays current on the latest industry technologies, trends, and strategies; brings forward solutions and serves as a Trusted Expert

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • This position requires a minimum of three years as a Manager.

  • A minimum of ten years professional experience with treasury or related experience required.

  • Demonstrated managerial, project management, and organizational skills with a servant leadership attitude

  • Expert analytical, communication, and problem-solving abilities are necessary.

  • Proven ability to present financial information in a concise and easily comprehensible manner.

  • Advanced spreadsheet and modeling skills are required.

  • Strong systematic understanding of the banking industry and treasury processes. Ability to communicate effectively with both external and internal business partners and with multiple organization levels.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint is needed.

  • Expert ability to communicate across all levels of the organization, present complex ideas concisely and clearly articulate ideas both verbally and in writing is necessary.

  • Excellent analytical, planning and negotiation skills are needed.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the expert ability to develop strong relationships with key members of both internal and vendor teams.

  • Demonstrated business acumen with an expert knowledge and understanding of business issues, priorities, goals, and strategy is necessary.

  • Must be highly organized, extremely detail oriented with strong leadership experience. Maintaining confidentiality, treating others with respect and upholding Company values is a key attribute.

  • Ability to perform in a fast-paced, goal oriented, and time sensitive environment.

  • The ability to drive organizational transformation; communicates openly and builds consensus with stakeholders.

Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business or a related field or equivalent experience is required.

  • MBA is a plus.

  • CTP certification is strongly preferred.

  • CPA and Project Management Professional (PMP) certifications are a plus.

  • Familiarity with SAP is a plus.
