Summary:

The Treasury Analyst serves a critical role in the global treasury operations and cash management for the SunOpta Group in North America. The Treasury Analyst will also work very closely with the treasury team in Europe to manage the Company's global cash flow and financing activities. Primary responsibilities will include daily cash management and banking activities, cash flow forecasting, debt compliance and bank reporting.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support liquidity management by performing daily cash flow balancing, including monitoring daily cash positions for U.S. and international operations, initiating wire transfers to fund business activities

  • Review positive pay exceptions, and compiling the necessary audit trail documentation

  • Liaise with A/R, A/P, payroll, and international accounting teams for various cross-functional processes

  • Coordinate foreign exchange transactions with banks and internal departments

  • Compile weekly Treasury dashboard, including a 13-week cash flow forecast, and distribute to the senior leadership team

  • Prepare monthly reporting requirements related to debt, including borrowing base calculation and other compliance reporting

  • Perform bank account administration that includes opening, maintaining, and closing of bank accounts

  • Process letters of credit and performance bonds as required

  • Ensure adherence to Treasury policies and controls, support SOX compliance and audit related efforts

  • Drive continuous process improvements; leverage systems and available technology to automate process for efficiency and scalability

  • All other duties as assigned

Education:

Associates degree in Accounting, Finance or similar area required.

Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related area strongly preferred.

CPA, CTP or similar certification would be a plus.

Experience:

3 years of related experience in treasury, accounting or finance is required.

Experience with asset-backed lending facilities and financial modelling in Excel is highly preferred.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Solid knowledge of cash management, banking and accounting

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with others

  • High attention to detail, data integrity and accuracy

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize deadlines

  • High proficiency in Excel and other MS Office applications

  • High proficiency in commercial online banking platforms

Summary: As part of the Corporate Finance team, the Financial Analyst will play an important role assisting with the accurate and timely financial reporting for the Company, including all external public filings (10-Q, 10-K, and other) and monthly internal reporting. The role will report to the Manager, Financial Reporting (who reports to the Senior Director, Financial Reporting). This role provides exposure to senior and executive levels of management, global scope, significant complexity (number of entities, structures and currencies) and the opportunity to work with multiple corporate functions such as tax, treasury, budgeting and forecasting, internal audit, and business development. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Consolidation and Financial Reporting * Coordinate the monthly close activities of the various business units and assist with monthly consolidation and internal financial reporting * Prepare consolidated account reconciliations and topside consolidating journal entries * Provide support with the quarterly financial reporting process through involvement in the preparation of quarterly financial statements, management discussion and analysis (MD&A), and audit committee report * Liaise with external auditors to support quarterly reviews and yearend audits 2. Analysis of Business Performance * Investigate and understand key business drivers behind the numbers, and provide clear, concise, and timely analyses and recommendations * Assist in the preparation of financial analysis and variance reporting (versus prior year and budget) for the consolidated Company and its operating segments 3. Internal Controls and Process Improvements * Identify opportunities to streamline reporting and improve processes within Hyperion Financial Management (HFM) reporting environment * Assist with maintaining up-to-date internal control documentation related to key consolidation and financial reporting processes 4. Support of Other Corporate Functions * Support business development function with financial analysis, modeling, and research related to strategic initiatives * Support budgeting and forecasting function with consolidation of information and preparation of presentations * Support tax compliance function with preparation and filing of state sales tax returns 5.
