GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Performs skilled daily operations in accounting, bookkeeping, clerical, and technical work involving the maintenance, data entry, and balancing of financial accounts and records with in the office of the County Treasurer, utilizing accounts receivable, general ledger, and banking systems. Verifies and enters details of financial transactions; and summarizes details to appropriate accounts ensuring that tax records and bank accounts are balanced and accurate. Ability to perform associated pier group functions, while maintaining compliance to financial internal controls. Performs other duties as assigned under general direction and management support.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Collects and codes a variety of data for processing

  • Posting and balancing of daily AR payment records for all tax types, with general ledger, and interfaced records.

  • Maintains general and sub ledgers, reviews, balances, adjusts, and posts account transactional entries in accordance with general accepted accounting practices.

  • Posts receipts and disbursements to appropriate accounts.

  • Performs a variety of internal control offsets for cash handling, transactional posting, receivables validation, intergovernmental departmental receivables, state agency receivables, and banking system protocols.

  • Assist or performs the monthly reconciliation of primary and secondary bank statements.

  • Management and validation of electronic financial systems transactions and controls. .

  • Oversight and daily management of other department's backup and supporting document for financial transactions and deposits, and audit support.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS/PREFERENCES

Education

Required: Associate degree from an accredited college in accounting, business, or finance, with major course work in accounting, or combination of education, training, and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the work described.

Preferred: Bachelor's degree in the above fields.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Comprehensive knowledge of office terminology, procedures, accounting software, and of application of techniques used in accounting and bookkeeping.

  • Ability to maintain a complete set of books and records involving a wide variety of accounting transactions.

Additional Requirements
