Rushing's Ortho Team has an opening for a Traveling Orthodontic Dental Assistant.

Job overview: Communicates with the patients (parents/guardians), orthodontist and other team members effectively Prepares all orthodontic treatment rooms in advance of orthodontic patient Handles hazardous chemicals in a safe manner Restocks all orthodontic treatment rooms and other clinical support areas Performs periodic inventory of all orthodontic supplies Responsible for traveling crate of orthodontic supplies between multiple locations Welcomes patients to treatment rooms in a timely fashion Keeps the patient schedule on time by being aware of the daily schedule, working efficiently and as a member of a cohesive team Takes x-rays as prescribed Assists the orthodontist with all registered dental assisting duties, including orthodontic procedures Records treatment rendered Instructs patients in oral hygiene Escorts patient to the business area for follow-up and scheduling May be called upon to schedule next appointment Sterilizes instruments and equipment after each patient appointment Maintains cleanliness of treatment rooms and sterilization area Can accept constructive criticism Proficient in using conflict resolution and problem-solving techniques in managing interpersonal conflict and patient complaints Is organized, motivated, committed and self-directed Demonstrates ability to use assigned computer software and other equipment Completes annual education and/or licensing requirements, if applicable Maintains dependable job attendance Adheres to all safety and infection control rules Uses appropriate safety equipment.

FPC Bryan is located 95 miles northwest of Houston and 165 miles south of Dallas.</span></span> <div style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><br /> <span style="font-size:14px;"><span style="font-family:georgia,serif;"><b>Work Schedule:</b> The contractor will normally work Monday through Friday (except Federal holidays), normally between the hours of 7:30 a.m. thru 4:00 p.m., with a 30 minute unpaid lunch period. A session will equal to one (1) hour. The facility is expected to require an average of 8 sessions per day. The Dental Assistant’s schedule shall not exceed 40 hours per week. The actual hours of work will be determined by the Health Services Administrator.</span></span></div> <div style="margin-bottom: 0pt;"><span style="font-size:14px;"><span style="font-family:georgia,serif;"><b> </b></span></span></div> <div style="margin-bottom: 0pt;"><span style="font-size:14px;"><span style="font-family:georgia,serif;"><strong>Education and Experience</strong><br /> The Dental Assistant shall possess specialty training from a licensed dentist and/·or certification from an accredited Dental Assistant school. Training must include dental radiology and radiology safety. The Dental Assistant shall be certified in Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) in accordance with the American Red Cross or the American Heart Association and have a minimum of two (2) years of experience providing Dental Assistant services. Bilingual oral communication skills and experience in a clinical correctional setting are desirable.</span></span></div> </div> <div style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;"><span style="font-size:14px;"><span style="font-family:georgia,serif;"><b>Basic Scope of Work (includes but it is not limited to):</b> <br /> Description of Duties All duties shall be performed in accordance with standards and methods generally accepted within the field of Dental Assistant Services, and in compliance with all Federal and State pol icy and regulations. The contractor shall adhere to all standards and regulations associated with the Joint Commission (JC) and American Correctional Association Foundation/Core Standards for Adult Correctional Institutions. The contractor's performance shall be monitored by the Contracting Officer's Representative (COR).
