Traveling (DON) Director of Nursing

Purpose of this position:

The purpose of this position is to provide nursing management, set resident care standards for all direct care providers and provide complete supervision and management for the nursing department.

Responsibilities:

  • Travel to various Touchstone communities to serve as the DON.

  • Assess resident needs and interview, hire and terminate adequate nursing personnel

  • Set resident care standards in accordance with accepted current standards of care to provide high quality care to residents

  • Develop and implement policies and procedures for nursing care of residents

  • Supervise and manage all aspects of the nursing department

  • Assess, direct and supervise residents' care needs

  • Cooperate with administration to assure efficient, cost-effective operation of the Community

Position Requirements

Qualifications:

  • TEXAS: Must have a current and valid Texas RN nursing license or a current and valid RN license from a Compact Party State. The RN may continue to practice under the former home state license and multistate licensure privilege during the processing of the nurse's licensure application in the new home state for a period not to exceed thirty days.

  • Previous experience as a DON in long term care required.

  • Must be willing to travel the majority of the time.

Equipment Operated: Medical office equipment/devices as well as standard office equipment including computers, fax machines, copiers, printers, telephones, calculators, etc. Work Environment: Position is in a well-lit office environment.
