Job Description A Dietetic Technician will be playing a crucial role in supporting registered dietitians and nutritionists in providing dietary guidance and promoting healthy eating habits. They will be assisting in assessing and monitoring nutritional needs, developing and implementing meal plans, and educating individuals and groups about the importance of proper nutrition.

Responsibilities Assist in conducting nutritional assessments for patients or clients, including collecting dietary information, analyzing food intake, and assessing nutritional deficiencies or requirements. Collaborate with registered dietitians to develop personalized nutrition plans based on individual needs, medical conditions, and dietary restrictions. Educate individuals and groups on the benefits of balanced nutrition, healthy eating habits, and the importance of proper portion sizes.

Support the implementation of dietary programs by preparing and serving meals, supervising mealtime activities, and providing guidance to food service staff. Monitor patients' or clients' progress and adjust meal plans as necessary, in collaboration with registered dietitians. Conduct regular nutritional screenings to identify at-risk individuals and provide appropriate interventions to prevent or manage malnutrition.

Assist in coordinating nutrition-related activities and initiatives, such as wellness programs, cooking demonstrations, and nutritional workshops. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of patient or client information, nutrition plans, and progress reports. Stay current with developments in the field of nutrition by attending conferences, workshops, and continuing education programs.

Adhere to professional standards, guidelines, and ethical principles in all aspects of work. Skills Excellent knowledge of nutritional principles, dietary guidelines, and meal planning. Strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients, clients, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams.

Ability to accurately collect and analyze dietary data, including food intake and nutrient composition. Proficient in using nutrition assessment tools and software to evaluate nutritional needs and create meal plans. Knowledge of food preparation techniques and ability to calculate and modify recipes to meet specific nutritional requirements.

Ability to educate and motivate individuals and groups to make healthy food choices and adopt sustainable lifestyle changes. Strong organizational and time management skills to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced healthcare environment. Attention to detail to ensure accuracy in recording and documenting nutrition-related information.

Empathy, patience, and sensitivity when working with individuals who may have dietary restrictions, chronic illnesses, or eating disorders. Proficiency in computer software programs, including Microsoft Office and nutrition analysis software. Required Qualifications Bachelors' of Science (Nutrition) Degree NUTRITION AND DIETETIC TECHNICIAN-REGISTERED (NDTR/ DTR) COMMISSION ON DIETETIC REGISTRATION OR ELIGIBLE TO TAKE THE DTR EXAM Prior experience in a healthcare or food service setting is preferred but not always required.

Knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, and clinical nutrition is an asset. Familiarity with state and federal regulations related to food safety and nutrition services. Ability to work independently and as part of a team, following established protocols and guidelines.
