Gemini Energy Services, A Tetra Tech Division is seeking a Certified-Electrician Solar Technician for travel assignments around the United States, with possible travel to Canada and Latin America. You will be responsible for various site duties to include commissioning, preventative maintenance, upgrades and retrofits, diagnosis, repair and various project tasks. You will be working to evaluate, inspect, repair, clean, maintain and/or replace inverters, components, exhaust systems, panels, firmware updates and communication devices. This technician will assist in other areas of site such as reporting, monitoring and customer management as required.

This position is a travel position which requires willingness to work up to 50-60 hours per week if needed, to meet project schedules. On-call and weekend work will occasionally be required. Daily Per Diem is paid by Gemini Energy Services.

ESSENTIAL EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Certified Electrician with Solar Experience

  • Active Solar technician 2+ years

  • Current valid Driver's License with less than 3 moving violations in past 3 years

  • We are looking for a troubleshooter, supervisor, QA/QC, assurance for customer, must be hard-working, a great communicator and willing to go above and beyond for a standard of excellence

  • Candidate should be able to function independently and must have a comprehensive understanding of a variety of inverters and how they function

  • Experienced with Direct Current Electricity, Alternating Current Electricity, and Electronics

  • Understanding of Voltage Testers, Multimeters, Amp Clamps, Oscilloscopes, Meghommeters, Infrared Testers, Voltage Test Procedures, Lock Out Tag Out, Electric Static Discharge (ESD) and Fiber Optics

  • Must have current driver's license and clean DMV record (within last 5 years) and ability to operate service trucks as required

  • Must have clean criminal background

  • Ability to train other employees in operations, maintenance, and repair procedures

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations

  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals

  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions

  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables

  • Candidate must be able to pass a drug screen

  • Travel required (breaks provided)

Training/Experience Preferred:

  • Certified Electrician, degree in electrical engineering preferred

  • At least 2 year of experience in the solar industry

  • NFPA 70e electrical training

  • OSHA 10 Hour Safety Course completion

  • First Aid / CPR

Physical Requirements:

  • Capable of lifting at least 40 lbs.

  • Capable of bending, twisting and lifting items over head

THE POSITION: Sunnova Energy Corporation is currently searching for a Solar Electrician for our Maintenance and Service group. Sunnova owns and maintains a distributed fleet of residential solar systems across 20+ states and several U.S. territories. All monitoring and inbound customer service calls are handled in-house. We utilize a highly skilled team of technicians as well as third-party service partners, to maintain and service our fleet . The Solar Electrician's primary responsibility is to support Operations & Maintenance activities by providing quick response to maintain the performance of the solar systems, provide excellent customer service to our Customers and ensure a smooth workflow and optimally performing solar systems. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: * Perform maintenance and service tasks for solar customers in assigned territories * Diagnose and repair solar systems and electrical components * Evaluate systems accurately for maintenance, warranty, design and other purposes * Provide on-site, Tier 1 troubleshooting for solar systems * Collaborate closely with engineering team to resolve technical issues * Identify solutions to resolve technical design problems, including electrical systems used during construction * Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams * Provide training to service staff on how to identify and resolve issues, repairs, etc. * Provide training to customers about process, usage, and maintenance * Manage and resolve customer concerns and issues in a timely manner; communicate and document progress to customer and relevant Sunnova employees * Document key communications in appropriate Sunnova software * Develop positive and professional relationships with channel partners and service only providers * Develop knowledge of all roof types and the appropriate flashings and mounts to use on those roofs * Complete quality assurance inspections, documenting corrective actions, and ensuring completion of corrective items within reasonable timelines * Maintain compliance with all Sunnova Safety policies and practices JOB REQUIREMENTS: * CA Electrical Trainee Card or ability to get one and the ability to obtain a CA Residential or General Electrical license in the near future * Minimum of 3+ years electrical experience required, with 1+ years in the solar electric industry preferred * Formal apprenticeship and/or vocational training preferred * Must possess a current, valid Driver's license with acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (will be verified) * Working knowledge of the NEC required * Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) preferred * Must be willing to travel for some projects; overnight travel estimated up to 25% * Proficiency in MS Office * Very strong organizational and communication skills (both verbal and written) * Able to work an adjusting schedule and respond to emergencies * Projects a professional appearance PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: * Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
