Treva is currently seeking full-time Operating Room Registered Nurse for a hospital in Detroit, Michigan. Two years of OR experience is required with current BLS and 1 year of travel experience. This is a 13 week contract with a possibility of extension. Hours are 6:45a-3:15p also a position for 11a-11p. Candidates must have competency Ortho, Vascular, Neuro, Robotics, Trauma, General, and GYN. This is a Nicotine free facility and Attestation form required upon offer acceptance. Great pay!



Job Responsibilities:

  • Prepare case carts and setup rooms
  • Consult and coordinates with health care team members to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care plans
  • Serve as the communication liaison to family and members of the operating team
  • Take and monitor patients vital signs
  • Prepare specimens for lab pickup
  • Assist turnover of rooms and when cases are done
  • Ensure that operating on correct patient and the correct procedure is being performed
  • Provide basic, bedside care
  • Respond to life-saving situations based upon nursing standards and protocol
  • Record all care information concisely, accurately and completely, in a timely manner, in the appropriate format and on the appropriate forms
  • Prep operating room for patient/procedure
  • Initiate corrective action whenever information from monitoring equipment shows adverse symptomatology
  • Monitor patients physical and emotional well-being throughout the care continuum
  • Perform other position-related duties as assigned

OR Nurses can take the role of: Circulating Nurse, with the following additional duties:

  • Assist in positioning, responding to comfort/safety of patient
  • Provide for accurate care and handling of specimens
  • Observe and enforce strict standards of asepsis
  • Observe, check and monitor all equipment used during surgery to confirm they are running smoothly
  • Handles patient documentation
  • Inventories all items both pre- and post-surgery

Scrub Nurse, with the following additional duties:

  • Select and handle instruments and supplies used for the operation, passing them to Surgeon
  • Inventory all items both pre- and post-surgery

Nurses First Assist, with the following additional duties:

  • Deliver direct surgical care by assisting physicians
  • Helps control bleeding
  • Provide wound exposure
  • Sutures patients after the surgery

Education & Experience:

  • Must have at least 2 years of OR experience
  • Must have at least 1 year of Travel Experience
  • Must have current BLS
  • Prefer experience in vascular, ortho, cardiac, and neuro
  • Current and valid Michigan RN license
  • No RN license restrictions
  • Current immunizations and/or screenings (MMR, DPT, Varicella, HEP B and TB) required
  • Must be a team player and work well with all healthcare professionals
