TravelNurseSource is working with Cynet Health to find a qualified PACU/Pre-Post Op RN in Zion, Illinois, 60099 About The Position Weekly Pay Range - $2371 To $2634 Job Title: Registered Nurse Job Specialty: Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Job Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Day 5x8-Hour (07:30 - 16:00) or Day 5x8-Hour (09:00 - 17:30) Guaranteed Hours: Not specified Experience: 1 year required in related fields License: Active RN License Certifications: ACLS and BLS (AHA only, no HeartCode) Must-Have:
Experience with Ambulatory/Outpatient, Inpatient, Phase I PACU, and Phase II Recovery
Skills in Arterial Line Management, Dysrhythmia Recognition/Management
Experience with surgeries including Endo/Laparoscopic, ENT, General, Gyn, Neuro, Neuro/Spine, Ortho, Ortho/Total Joints, Plastics, Robotics, Thoracic, Urology, Vascular Job Description:
Provide care for primarily oncology patients in the PACU unit
Utilize EPIC documentation and SBAR communication
Work alongside providers offering support services including interpretation, phlebotomy, pharmacy, radiology, and respiratory services
Collaborate with hospitalists, anesthesiologists, and CRNAs available in-house
Manage and administer various protocols, including hyperglycemia/hypoglycemia and insulin
Perform surgeries such as radical neck dissection, tonsillectomy, cholecystectomy, colon surgery, Whipple, renal surgery, and others
Administer blood products, central line care, and manage IVs; including accessing ports and managing phlebotomy and PICC lines
Familiarity with medication types such as antiarrhythmics, anticoagulants, antihypertensives, IV vasopressors, narcotics, analgesics, and reversal agents
Conduct circulation checks, airway assessments, and care for ventilated patients
Execute procedures such as extubation, fresh tracheostomy care, and conscious sedation
Other responsibilities include medication reconciliation, operative/procedural consent obtaining, pre/post-endoscopy procedures, pre/post-IR procedures, pre/post-operative procedures, and pre-op assessments/education
Conduct follow-up phone calls and patient education, review history and physical examinations
Manage straight urinary catheterizations, wound vacs, interpretation and communication of lab values, and isolation precautions
Understand and manage malignant hyperthermia protocols, pain assessment and management, PCA pump operation
Experience in pre-admission testing and pre-post assessments preferred
Orientation includes 56 hours, with 24-48 on the floor; scrubs are provided
