Travel Nurse RN - Icu/Critical Care In Hastings, NE

Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) Job Specialty: ICU (Intensive Care Unit) Job Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-Hour Days Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week Experience: Minimum of 1 year License: Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Experience with vents, art lines, PICC lines, ports, chest tubes, drains, wounds, ostomies, OG, NG, PPE, ability to identify arrhythmias, and manage cardioversions, TEEs, post-heart cath patients, defibrillator, and pain management. Ability to titrate medications is necessary. Job Description: - Work in a 10-bed ICU unit; ICU and Progressive Care Unit (PCU) are located on the same floor.

• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2, occasionally extending to 1:3 if patient acuity is low.

• Provide care for patients with conditions such as DKA, COVID, CHF, MVA, CVA, Sepsis, overdose, and general medical needs.

• Pediatric patients are rare; ICU RNs manage ventilators for vented pediatric patients.

• Utilize common titratable or set rate drips including insulin, levo, cardizem, dopamine, dobutamine, TPA, heparin, amio, lasix, and sedation drips.

• Serve under a charge nurse who also takes patients; house supervisor available.

• Support staff includes nurse aids with a target of 2 for 16 patients.

• Supported by hospitalists in-house 24/7; intensivists available during day shifts.

• Respiratory therapists (RT) are not in the ICU 24/7 but are available on-site.

• Telemetry techs available; RNs responsible for interpreting their own strips using Philips tele monitors.

• Scheduled in 12-hour weekday blocks (7-7), with some flexibility for weekend requirements generally every 3rd weekend.

• Expected to work one of the winter holidays, approximately every 3rd holiday.

• No on-call or standby requirements unless requested.

• Required to float to PCU and occasionally to MedSurg with a full patient assignment of 1:5-6 when necessary.

• Dress code mandates solid colored scrubs without designs and natural hair color.

• Includes 2 days of department orientation and 1 shift on the floor.
