Deliver patient care through the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
Provide direction and guidance on patient teaching and activities of ancillary personnel.
Maintain professional nursing standards and comply with the policies and operating instructions.
Continuously strive for superior performance by contributing to the patient and family experience.
Assess the physical, psychological, social dimensions, and educational needs of the patient on admission and complete a written assessment in a timely manner.
Identify patient needs and formulate a written care plan based on patient assessment, initiating care within 24 hours of admission.
Implement the plan of care and document its effectiveness in the medical record, revising as necessary.
Establish a compassionate environment by providing emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients, friends, and families.
Promote patient independence by establishing care goals and teaching self-care skills to patients, friends, and families.
Assure quality of care by adhering to therapeutic standards, measuring health outcomes, and recommending necessary adjustments.
Resolve patient problems and needs through multidisciplinary team strategies.
Adhere to infection-control policies and protocols, medication administration and storage procedures, and controlled substance regulations.
Maintain continuity of care through documentation and communication with nursing teams and physicians.
Promote a cooperative relationship among healthcare teams by communicating, responding to requests, and participating in team problem-solving.
Utilize leadership skills through delegation, communication, and evaluation of team members.
Recognize changes in patient status and provide appropriate intervention and documentation.
Provide ongoing patient and family education based on the daily assessment of disease process, care requirements, and expected recovery.
