Treva Corporation is currently seeking a Medical Technologist (Hematology) for a hospital in Detroit, Michigan. Position is working 4 openings 7a-3:30p and 1 opening 3pm -11:30p. Equipment used: Care stream, Quantum, GE and Siemens.Looking for candidates for a 13 week contract. High possibility of extension.Great pay!

Job Duties: Performs a variety of blood tests, studies morphology of blood constituents and performs various
coagulation tests to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of disease. Conducts technical procedures related to the
counting and identification of blood cells and other specialized hematologic tests. Verifies accuracy of findings,
identifies test inconsistencies, and takes appropriate action to make corrections and resolve problems. Operates,
cleans, and maintains laboratory equipment used in blood analysis and procedures. May perform urinalysis studies.
Requires a bachelor's degree . Typically reports to a manager or supervisor. Typically requires an American Society
of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) certification or its equivalent. May require a state license to practice. Years of experience
may be unspecified. Certification and/or licensing in the position's specialty is the main requirement.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:

  • Completion of accredited Bachelor's Degree program in medical technology, medical laboratory sciences, or clinical laboratory sciences.
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Microbiology, or Biology may be considered if completed coursework aligns with the duties of the specific Medical Technologist position.
  • Coursework completed outside of the US must be verified by a NACES approved credential evaluation service.
  • Requires six months experience in a medical laboratory setting.
  • Demonstrated technical proficiency and theoretical knowledge sufficient to perform laboratory functions are required.
  • Certification at the technologist level from a nationally recognized agency, such as ASCP, NCA, ASM, AABB, ACS, or HEW is preferred.

This is a <strong>Night shift 7p-7a</strong>, <strong>13 week</strong> contract with a high possibility of extension. </p><p>&nbsp;</p><p><strong>Summary of MLT Job Role:</strong></p><ul><li>Produces complete and accurate laboratory results.</li><li>Responds to test requisitions promptly, with attention to patient's name, type of test and time of test.</li><li>Disposes of hazardous materials properly, immediately after use, per department guidelines.</li><li>Is attentive to record keeping, documentation of work performed and required clerical tasks.</li><li>Notifies supervisor of work completion, and reports for additional assignments.</li><li>Demonstrates the ability to perform computer functions accurately.</li><li>Completes work left from other shifts, and strives to reduce any holdover procedures. Work pending is organized and appropriately left for follow-up.</li><li>Demonstrates the ability to coordinate simultaneous functions with complete accuracy.</li><li>Demonstrates the flexibility to adjust schedule in response to STAT orders or fluctuations in the workload.</li><li>Demonstrates the following skills regarding send out testing.</li><li>Demonstrates the ability to accurately, efficiently and safely perform venipuncture and capillary blood removal procedures. Completely conforms to guidelines in blood removal procedures.</li><li>Follows up on conflicting or irregular patient problems.</li><li>Demonstrates the ability to act as a reference for lab assistant, technician, and medical technologists personnel.</li><li>Dates, initials or signs all laboratory documents and computer entries as required; i.e., updating, result review.</li><li>Calls all critical or abnormal pre-op patient results promptly. Appropriately documents calls in computer.</li><li>Maintains a neat/clean organized work area and keeps working supplies stocked at the bench.</li><li>Follows protocol for running and reporting controls. Takes appropriate action in out-of-control discrepant or unexpected test results. Documents as appropriate.</li><li>Notifies supervisor of out-of-control, discrepant or unexpected results within expected time frame.</li><li>Performs proficiency testing accurately and timely.</li><li>Performs maintenance and calibration as scheduled, when asked and within set time frame. Documents as appropriate.</li><li>Recognizes and resolves problems, troubleshoots malfunctioning equipment/procedures and uses alternative methods when available.
