The essential duties for this job include:
Assists with emergency response; answering telephone calls from public and working extended hours.
Assists with monitoring and inspecting the maintenance of the Travel information Center building and grounds.
Keeps daily records and prepares reports of number of customers served.
Opens and closes the Travel Information Center.
Performs administrative support related functions to include filing, sorting, processing of mail, and keeping record of postage inventory.
Performs literature inventory and reorders promotional literature and maps from regional warehouses, tourist attractions and Chambers of Commerce offices throughout the State; must be able to lift, move, carry boxes up to 50lbs.
Provides state-wide travel information and routing to the traveling public and truckers to include walk-in customers, telephone inquiries, mail requests and e-mails.
Drives a state vehicle to perform duties including, but not limited to attend training.
Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.

Experience can be satisfied by fulltime or prorated parttime equivalent
No supervisory experience required.
College education and/or relevant technical training may be substituted for experience on year per year basis.

All Texas Travel Information Centers will be open from 8:00am to 6:00pm from the Friday preceding Memorial Day through Labor Day Monday. Employees will work staggered shifts as assigned during the summer period.
All Texas Travel Information Center employees are required to purchase and wear an official uniform.
May move up to 50 lbs. (such as literature boxes)
