Job Description

Coordinates and successfully operates trauma programs at Scottish Rite and Egleston. Leads Safe Kids and Child Passenger Safety programs. Works in partnership with departmental and community leaders to ensure needs of patients, families, and the community are met.

Experience

  • 5 years of experience in program development and management
  • 2 years of experience in a related field

Preferred Qualifications

  • Postgraduate degree from an accredited college or university in Management, Public Health Administration, Health Promotion, Health Administration, Business Administration, Public Policy, Nonprofit Administration, or related field

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage a team, keeping staff motivated and productive.

  • Must possess excellent customer service, communication, organizational, interpersonal, strategic planning, and community partnership development skills.

  • Evidence of continuing professional growth, e.g., membership in a professional nursing organization

Job Responsibilities

Clinical Activities

  • Plans and implements campus clinical trauma protocol/practice management guidelines.

Educational Responsibilities

  • Manages community trauma education and prevention programs, including Safe Kids and Child Passenger Safety programs.

  • Ensures consistency of trauma education between the two campuses and ensures system trauma education to all appropriate departments.

  • Coordinates system trauma specialist program and attends in-house trauma-related educational activities.

External Emergency Management

  • Operates as Children's Healthcare of Atlanta's external emergency management representative at local, state, and national emergency management forums.

  • Serves as pediatric state coordinating hospital representative.

  • Manages federal/state Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response grants program.

  • Region D & N Drill Planning Group (monthly).

  • GHA Mutual Aid Task Force (quarterly).

  • GHA Regional Coordinating Hospital Group (quarterly).

  • GHA Region D Hospital Group (quarterly).

  • SE Regional Pediatric Disaster Response Network Executive Committee (as needed).

  • SE Regional Pediatric Disaster Response Network - Work Groups (as needed).

Performance Improvement

  • Develops system quality indicators and ensures consistency of between both campuses.

  • Assists in Trauma Quality Oversight committee leadership and ensures consistency of outcomes between campuses.

  • Serves as liaison to bring quality oversight committees together when needed.

  • Serves on Disaster Preparedness committee and disseminates information appropriately to system trauma physicians.

Administration

  • Manages appropriate operational and financial aspects of trauma program.

  • Works collaboratively with physicians from both campuses to integrate processes and policies and ensure same standard of trauma care is in practice on both campuses.

  • Manages all assigned trauma service personnel.

Research

  • Assists in developing/expansion of trauma research systemwide and ensures integrity of research program is maintained, e.g., consents and Institutional Review Board approval.

Community/National Involvement in Trauma Care System

  • Participates in development of the trauma care system at the community, state, and national level.

  • Attends the State Trauma Advisory Committee to ensure that Children's Healthcare of Atlanta is well-represented.

  • Attends the Region III Trauma Advisory Committee, State Trauma Coordinators Meeting, and assists in the pediatric aspect of the Georgia State Trauma Conference.
