Position Summary
The role of the Trauma Nurse Clinician reports to the Trauma Program Manager, in coordination with the Trauma Medical Director. This position is responsible for overseeing the trauma PI/QA aspects of care, beginning with prehospital care and throughout the duration of the patient's hospital stay. This position collaborates with multidisciplinary team members within Washington Regional to ensure optimal patient care, specifically in trauma, is provided.
Essential Position Responsibilities
The Trauma Nurse Clinician operates in collaboration with Trauma Program leadership and the Trauma team on all quality aspects of trauma care. Principal duties and responsibilities of this position are:
Real-time review of trauma charts for quality assurance with timely and accurate data entry into the trauma registry database.
Participate in multidisciplinary intensive care rounds and daily trauma rounds with the trauma surgeons and advanced practice providers.
Order specific inpatient care, as directed by the trauma surgeons and advanced practice providers.
Coordinate with ancillary services, including physical therapy, occupational therapy, as indicated by physician orders and patient needs.
Identify trauma specific CPMG opportunities and communicate findings to the Trauma PI Coordinator for further review.
Perform daily review on the trauma band report to identify under and over triage activations.
Participate in trauma specific meetings, such as EMS PIPS, Trauma Operations, and Trauma Peer Review.
Assist with planning and implementing strategies for ongoing trauma program development and improvement.
Collaborate with the trauma registrars on data entry into the Arkansas Trauma Registry System.
Respond to all trauma activations while on shift and assist with trauma patient care. This includes assisting with the TEG setup and testing.
Assist with trauma outcomes feedback and trauma education, as needed.
Qualifications
Education: Must be a graduate of an accredited nursing program
Licensure and Certifications: Arkansas RN or LPN license, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC required.
Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience. Experience in data abstraction and analysis preferred. Certification in data abstraction or healthcare quality strongly preferred. Experience with Microsoft Office suite is required.
Work Environment: This position will spend 50% of work time sitting while performing work in a standard office environment and 50% of time standing and/or walking while occasionally pushing, pulling, lifting and/or carrying up to 50 lbs.
