Job Description:

This position will work 1 shift per week. The day of the week is flexible and will be coordinated with our Trauma Coordinator.

The Trauma Injury Prevention and Performance Improvement Coordinator works directly with the Trauma Services Manager or Coordinator to manage, maintain and coordinate the injury prevention and/or the performance activities at the assigned facility. The incumbent may function in a single or possible dual role depending on the facility's trauma level. The Injury Prevention Coordinator position is responsible for injury prevention education and activities within the hospital and throughout the community. He/she will work in partnership with coalitions and agencies throughout local counties required by the American College of Surgeons (ACS) and/or State of Montana for Trauma Center verification/designation. The Performance Improvement Coordinator position is responsible for assisting the Trauma Program staff with trauma performance improvement activities as required by the ACS and/or State of Montana for Trauma Center verification/designation.

Scope

As Trauma Injury Prevention Outreach Educator with us, you'll never know what to expect, but you will know how to:

  • Facilitate trauma education within the hospital and trauma referral region by identifying trauma education needs through Performance Improvement and Patient Safety (PIPS)

  • Participate in community outreach and regional marketing for trauma

  • Participate in the ERTAC and State Trauma Care Committee education and/or injury prevention subcommittees and yearly Rocky Mountain Rural Trauma Symposium

  • Participate with relevant hospital and community stakeholders in legislative action committees in support of injury prevention public policy

  • Collaborate with grant organizations to seek financial support for injury prevention and outreach activities.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Current healthcare related MT licensure (RN, Paramedic, etc)

  • Two years current critical care of pre-hospital work experience (ie ICU, ED, Paramedic)

  • Current BLS certification endorsed by the American Heart Association

  • Current ACLS or ability to obtain within 6 months

  • For RN, Current ATCN or TNCC auditor certifications or ability to obtain within 1 year of hire

  • For non-RN: Current PHTLS certification or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire

  • Current PALS or PEARS certification or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire

Physical Requirements:

Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.- and

  • Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.- and

  • Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.- and

  • Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.- and

  • Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc).- and

  • May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time.

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.

$35.00 - $80.21
