JOB SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Director and Manager of Radiology, this position is responsible for patient transportation to and from all departments throughout the hospital. This position maintains the safety and cleanliness of all patient transport equipment and assists with other related duties.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1.TELEPHONE SKILLS - Demonstrates hospital telephone etiquette by answering the phones promptly, courteously and identifying department and self.

2.POLICIES/PROCEDURES- Is aware of and follows all hospital and department policies and procedures.

3.TEAM WORK-Promotes positive co-worker relationships through team work and cooperation. Understands and supports the needs of individuals in other departments and promotes conflict resolution.

Shares information, work knowledge and experience with coworkers, physicians and students in a non-threatening manner. Offers assistance and promptly responds to requests.

4.PRODUCTIVITY-Maintains high productivity and performs efficiently regardless of whether the work volume is high or low. Appropriately prioritizes work activities.

Responds to difficult situations with self-control and a positive attitude. Makes decisions independently and knows when to ask for assistance. Exercises good judgment and arrives at sound decisions.

5.Documentation is accurate, complete and legible.

6.Safely and efficiently transports patients to and from all departments throughout the hospital.

7.Signs patient's in/out of the nursing units during patient transfers. Brings medical record and MAR.

8.Assures order verification.

9.Assures STAT reports are properly charted and verbally communicated to proper personnel.

Demonstrates working knowledge of equipment needed in transport and patient care (i.e., O2, IV's). Assures all O2 tanks properly stored and filled. Maintains accurate 02 levels during transport of patient.



  1. Delivers items such as supplies, equipment, requisitions and specimens to the appropriate person/department.

  2. Prepares and transports deceased patients to the morgue.

  3. Equipment wiped down to start the day. Responsible for cleaning transport equipment after each use.

  4. Assists with telephone duties, utilizing proper hospital telephone etiquette. Promptly answers all calls/pages.

  5. Confirms patient identification according to hospital and department protocols. Utilizes hand-off communication forms on pick-up and return of

  6. Replenishes blanket warmer.

  7. Maintains clear hallways. (trash removal, etc.) Keep room/work stations neat, orderly.

  8. Assures magnetic safety form is filled out before transport to MRI.

  9. Follows proper guidelines for handling/transporting isolation patients.

  10. Assists technical personnel and radiologists by performing a variety of duties for patients and certain heavy duties in the care of physically and/or

  11. *Willingly performs other related duties outside immediate work area as assigned or required.


TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

MANDATORY:

CPR certification required

PREFERRED:

Previous hospital experience

Carrying: Transports objects by holding them in hands or arms

Handling: Seizes, holds or works with hands.

Hearing: Perceives nature of sounds by ears.

Lifting: Raises or lowers objects from one level to another; turns, positions or lifts patients. Talking: Expresses ideas by means of spoken word.

Walking: Moves about on foot

Visual: Accommodation for acuity and depth perception

Pay Range: $20.15 Minimum - $20.21 Maximum an hour

Individual wages are determined based upon a number of factors including, but not limited to, an individual's qualifications and experience

Hours: 12 hours

Days off: Variable
