Shift: Casual Part Time, Varied

Job Summary:

Under the direction of the Director & Assistant Director of Imaging Services, the Transporter will work closely with departmental & hospital staff, patients & visitors. Transporter is responsible for transporting patients safely to/from the imaging department. Transporter will assist, at the request of Imaging staff, with patients in providing quality care and images.

Essential Duties:

  • Transport patients to the Imaging department at the request of the Technologist.

  • Transport patients to their rooms on completion of examinations.

  • Makes copies of films using the duplicator and film processor.

  • Performs weekly film processor roller cleaning and chemical replenishment.

  • Maintains an adequate film supply in darkrooms and records replacement.

  • Maintains clean linen supply.

  • Disinfects all gurneys & wheelchairs on a regular basis. Makes sure they are properly stored when not in use.

  • Monitor oxygen bottles and procures replacement bottles if needed.

  • Monitor blanket warmer temperature and stocking with blankets.

  • Maintains orderliness and cleanliness of the imaging department & dark room.

License/Certifications:

  • BLS required within 30 days of hire.

Experience:

  • Prefer certified CNA or other hospital work experience.

Education:

  • High school diploma or GED required.

Coordinates patient care with other Emergency Department staff and provides support to physicians with procedures and instruments. This position required on call with a 30 minute response time. Essential Duties: * Provides support to physician with procedures and treatments. * Coordinates patient care with professional and support staff. * Performs delegated patient care tasks as assigned. * Monitors patient vital signs and notifies the RN or physician if they change. * Prepares wounds for suturing. * Applies dressings when directed by professional staff. * Measures and applies OrthoGlass Splints, utilizes OrthoGlass reference manual. * Establishes IV access and performs phlebotomy when ordered by professional staff. * Performs 12 Lead EKG procedures. * Transports patients to assigned units as appropriate. Assists patients at time of discharge from the department, whether the patient is being admitted to a floor or discharged for release. License/Certification: * Must have current BLS upon hire. Experience: * One (1) year of direct patient careexperience, Paramedic certification, EMT Certification or completion of thesecond term of Nursing Curriculum required. * ED and/or Phlebotomy experiencepreferred. * Must be able to work in a highvolume, fast paced environment while maintaining the ability to multi task andprioritize in order to obtain the highest level of efficiency andeffectiveness.
