Workday: Monday

  • Friday, occasional evenings/weekends

Work hours: 8:30 a.m.

  • 5:00 p.m. (occasional nights and weekends)

Location: Guadalupe Community Center, 1801 W. Cesar Chavez Blvd, San Antonio, TX. 78207

Summary:

Transporter is responsible for the coordination and implementation of transportation services to older adult clients to include the safe delivery and pick up to their final destination. The Transporter keeps the program director informed of any transportation concerns or needs, to include vehicle issues, booking difficulties, client needs, and change of travel plans.

Position Responsibilities:

  • *Coordinating schedule of client appointments for food deliveries, and other travel needs.

  • *Maintaining and ensuring the safety and well-being of client while in transport.

  • *Ensuring that documentation for transportation is completed in accordance with agency policy, including client transportation safety checklist.

  • *Anticipating transportation needs of the program and coordinating efforts to complete.

  • *Ensuring that all vehicle registration and insurance documentation is available in vehicles.

  • Completing all required client data entry, reports, and paperwork in an accurate and timely manner as directed.

  • Documenting and reporting to supervisor all serious incidents completely, accurately and in a timely manner to include vehicle accident reports.

  • Reporting to work in a timely manner as assigned and scheduled.

  • Abiding by traffic laws and agency transportation policies.

  • Ensuring transportation services are provided in a manner that promotes best practices and facilitates the optimum delivery of quality trauma informed care.

  • Other duties as assigned by the Program Director, Senior Director, and/or Vice President of Programs.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education

  • Associate's degree in business-related field, community health, or social work preferred.

  • High school diploma/GED required.

  • Experience

  • Minimum of 1 years' experience in customer service, and/or commercial driving.

  • License and Credentials

  • Must be at least 21 years old

  • Reliable transportation

  • Valid driver license

  • Clean driving record

  • Valid vehicle liability insurance

Minimum Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong understanding of issues related to aging and social isolation of seniors

  • Knowledge of community resources and social services

  • Proficiency with personal computer, email, internet, and computer software including Microsoft Office 365; experience with database systems preferred.

  • Ability to work in a culturally sensitive manner with people of various backgrounds

  • Ability to build strong relationships

  • Demonstrated ability for collaborative work in a team environment, as well as ability to work independently and proactively to meet expected deadlines

  • Ability to maintain appropriate ethical boundaries and professional relationships

  • Must be flexible and adaptable and be comfortable scheduling and rescheduling a day's activities based on multiple factors.

  • Must be detail oriented, organized, self-motivated, work well independently and on a team.

  • Must have good written and verbal skills.

  • Must have good critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

  • Bilingual: Fluent in English/Spanish

Travel Requirements:

Travel requirements for the position includes 97% local and 3% overnight.
