ABOUT THE POSITION
VHB's growing New York City team is looking for a Transportation/Traffic Engineer with 3-5 years' experience to join our Mobility group. Responsibilities
Working within a team of professionals in developing mobility and transportation planning and engineering solutions for a multitude of transportation projects
Traffic impact studies
Traffic modeling using a variety of tools
Safety studies
Transportation planning analyses
Traffic data collection and tabulation
Intersection and roadway level of service analyses
Development, analysis and evaluation of traffic improvements
Research and interpret transportation data, community statistics and demographics to assess the mobility needs of a community
Prepare conceptual designs for roadways, intersections, pedestrian and bicycle paths, etc. design.
Prepare and review technical memoranda and reports.
Participate in meetings with clients, consultant partners, and other stakeholders.
Prepare and deliver analysis findings, concerns, and recommendations in a collaborative fashion.
Design of traffic control devices
Skills and Abilities
Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
Self-motivated
Strong writing skills for proposals, technical reports and memoranda.
The ability to balance multiple concurrent assignments.
Attention to detail
Ability to think critically
Strong computer skills
Excel in working in a team environment
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related field, with coursework in Transportation/Traffic Engineering
Master's Degree in Transportation Engineering may be substituted for 1 year of experience
3-5 years of civil / transportation engineering / planning experience
Experience developing roadway safety plans
Experience with AutoCAD, MicroStation or model-based design
Experience Synchro and HCS
Experience with ArcGIS
Experience with VISSIM a plus
Experience with VBA, PYTHON, SQL, and databases a plus
Our best estimate of the salary range for this position located in New York City is $78,000 - $103,000. The final compensation will be based on a variety of factors such as location, individual qualifications, education, and experience.
