Transportation Systems Intern

The Transportation Systems Intern will play a vital role in supporting transportation operations. This role will be responsible for data entry, documenting transportation processes, and conducting analysis. This internship provides a valuable opportunity to gain hands-on experience in transportation logistics and systems management while working in a dynamic and collaborative environment.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Input relevant transportation data accurately and efficiently into the Transportation Management System (TMS).

Ensure data integrity and consistency within the system.

Document transportation processes, procedures, and workflows within the TMS.

Collaborate with team members to update and refine process documentation as needed.

Conduct analysis of transportation lane rates to assess cost-effectiveness and competitiveness.

Research market trends, carrier rates, and industry benchmarks to inform rate analysis.

Identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements in transportation lanes.

Collaborate with the procurement team to negotiate favorable rates with carriers and service providers.

Ensure that all rate data is up-to-date and reflective of current agreements with carriers.

Verify the accuracy of rate entries and address any discrepancies or inconsistencies.

Generate reports to track and analyze transportation lane rates over time.

Provide support to stakeholders in understanding and interpreting transportation data.

Assist in the analysis of transportation data to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities for optimization.

Support Analysts in developing insights and recommendations based on data analysis.

Build reports using data analysis tools and software.

Create visually engaging and informative reports that assist in making key business decisions.

Present findings and insights to relevant stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather data, share insights, and implement process improvements.

Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to ensure alignment on project objectives and priorities.

All other duties as assigned.

SKILLS/EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Required:

Must be currently pursuing a bachelors degree at an accredited college or university

Completion of freshman year and a declaration of a major

Remain in good academic standing throughout the internship

Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel

Excellent analytic and problem-solving skills

Effective communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Eagerness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment

Desired:

Academic focus in Computer Information Technology, Transportation Systems, Minor in Mathematics, Computer Science

My SQL Database or VBA/VB experience
