Overview

JOB SUMMARY: Supervises day-to-day transportation functions to ensure driver performance, customer satisfaction, and that Department and Company objectives for efficiency, reliability, and productivity are met or exceeded.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Plans, implements, and monitors day-to-day transportation operations, including analysis of on-time reports, delivery reliability, off-load rate, and manpower needs. (25%) Reviews and schedules daily routing of equipment and manpower to meet customer needs in terms of contractual guidelines, special deliveries, supplemental deliveries, opening orders, etc. (20%) Resolves equipment failures or break-downs, providing advice and assistance to drivers, as well as submitting appropriate reports to leasing/maintenance provider for service and repair. (15%) Motivates employees, including performance evaluation, counseling, and problem resolution, to achieve a positive work environment. (20%) Supervises employees, including interpretation of rules in a union work environment, conflict resolution, and disciplinary action as required. (10%) Updates routing programs (XATA, CADEC) on a daily basis, including review of drivers' on-board computer reports to ensure that goals for efficiency and timeliness are met. (10%) Performs other related and assigned duties as necessary.

Supervises up to 100 or more employees, including hourly staff. Oversees operations with significant impact on GSF customer relations.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education and experience equivalent to:

Education/Certification:

Bachelor's degree in management, business, or psychology from an accredited college or university.

Experience:

3 to 6 years of work experience in transportation or food distribution, including supervisory responsibilities and union work environments.

The Production Supervisor partners with the Supply Chain team to ensure projects remain on schedule and on budget. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES * Attends any pre-production meetings and/or interacts with customers directly as necessary. * Ensures high-quality standards in all production deliverables. * Ensures team is adhering to safety rules. * Leads continuous improvement activities and reports out during the daily meeting. * Creates strong and effective internal partnerships to ensure client needs are met and projects stay within scope, budget, timeline, quality, and other Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). * Proactively leads the development of improved production processes and achieves financial targets. * Sets priorities for the team to ensure task completion; coordinates work activities with other supervisors. * Follows up with direct reports to ensure jobs are on target for established hours and deadlines and adheres to company policies and procedures. * Develops work instructions and maintains training matrix. * Plans, directs, and coordinates activities of employee(s) to ensure goals or objectives are accomplished. Mentors, coaches, trains and develops team. * Additional duties as assigned.
