Growing statewide company seeking a full-time Transportation Supervisor for the Grand Rapids area.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Ensure safe, proper and efficient use and operation of all issued equipment
Includes reporting of issues and correcting them if able
Develop drivers, evaluate their performance and provide coaching opportunities
Provide clear and concise communication to relevant audiences for appropriate reasons
Recommend operating improvements through the examination of KPIs and/or task analysis
Conduct administrative functions.
Includes: hiring/firing, correct usage of Kronos, overseeing/managing vacation scheduling, scheduling of the workforce, etc.
Maintain accurate customer information for routing
Ensure customer satisfaction
Via the creation of timely and effective routes, notifying relevant parties of issues and managing the resolution process.
Conduct monthly driver meetings
Includes individual reviews of route level metrics and budget reviews
Ensure adherence to GLWAS policies, procedures and local contractual language.
Report all accidents and follow investigative protocols/paperwork.
Open assigned depot(s).
Maintain depot and report any issues/concerns.
Receive shuttle and assist in loading/sorting of goods onto the proper route trucks.
Ensure all routes go out, covering routes personally if needed (for emergency situations).
Manage incoming calls from customers and drivers and assist in issue resolution.
Assist if needed in the reconciliation of routes
Route the next delivery day's business in a timely and effective manner
Close and secure the depot(s) as needed.
Other duties as assigned.
Pass a pre-employment testing (Drug Screening, Breath Alcohol Test, Physical Agility Test, Background Check).
Pass a drug test at any time during employment.
Adhere to the policies and procedures outlined in the employee policy manual and any applicable contracts, signed agreements, and work rules.
Cooperates with all management and staff of GLWAS.
Follows all MLCC rules and regulations, as they apply to the position.
Use alcohol in a responsible manner when related to business activities.
Maintain a safe driving record (if applicable).
College degree or equivalent through relevant work experience.
Preferred supervisory experience in transportation, distribution, or logistics
This position operates in a warehouse environment.
The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration.
The noise level in the work environment can be loud.
Requires use of warehouse equipment.
This is a very active position. The employee must frequently stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, stoop and climb throughout the day.
The employee must frequently lift, carry, and/or move up to 55 pounds and push or pull up to 100 pounds of force on a cart; frequently ascend and descend stairs.
The employee is regularly required to read and communicate in English. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
