Minimum Qualifications Candidates must be reachable for appointment on the current Civil Service eligible list for this title;
OR
Transfer Opportunity - have permanent status as a Transportation Supervisor 1 and be eligible for lateral transfer OR be eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of Civil Service Law.

Promotion:
One year of permanent competitive, non-competitive, or 55-b/55-c service as a Bus Driver or Motor Vehicle Operator.
OR
Open Competitive:
Either 1. three years of experience in the management or supervision of fleet operations or daily dispatching of motor vehicles from a pool of at least 30 vehicles;
Or 2. six years of experience overseeing the maintenance of motor vehicles and keeping records and reports of that maintenance from a pool of at least 30 vehicles.
Substitution: You may substitute a high school diploma or a high school equivalency diploma issued by an appropriate educational authority for two years of the experience described in #1, or four years of the experience described in #2.
If you are appointed provisionally, you must take the next scheduled Civil Service examination for this title and your score must be reachable on the resulting eligible list before you can be permanently appointed. If you do not pass the examination or achieve a reachable score, you may not be retained.
Duties Description As a Transportation Supervisor 1, you would plan and schedule the daily assignment of vehicles for use by facility staff, and for the transportation of individuals and delivery of supplies; prepare and maintain records of vehicle utilization, gas and oil consumption, mileage reports, work orders, motor vehicle parts inventory receipts and disbursements, insurance coverage forms, and Uniform Reporting Code reports; review drivers' reports of vehicle malfunctions, assign minor repairs and servicing to facility mechanics, and schedule major repairs and inspections; and supervise various transportation unit staff, schedule regular and overtime work assignments, monitor time and attendance, and prepare performance evaluations.
