What you will be doing:
We are looking for a Transportation Superintendent located in North Salt Lake, UT
Main responsibilities
Oversee all product movement for the Butte MT satellite yard for the Salt Lake City Distribution Center.
Supervise up to 40 drivers and direct the workforce.
Coordination of transportation operations with Distribution Center Management and Warehouse Operations.
Provide superior service to retail stores through on-time delivery and timely return of salvage.
Provide a safe work environment for all employees.
Proven ability to manage employee relations (policy, contractual, leadership).
Communicate with and listen effectively to employees.
Responsible for profit and loss for Dept. including employee costs, worker's compensation, equipment, and facilities.
Develop budgetary and departmental goals.
Implement cost-saving measures within the department.
Participate on the negotiating team in all distribution center union contract negotiations.
Keep abreast of Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations; ensure employees and equipment are in DOT compliance.
Optimize the utilization of equipment and staffing in a dynamic environment.
Execute corporate vision and foster a lean distribution, continuous improvement environment.
What we are searching for
4-year college degree in Logistics or Business preferred.
5-10 years management level experience in the distribution.
Expert use of Microsoft Word, Excel and Access and associated applications is strongly preferred.
Extensive knowledge of transportation related software including: routing optimization software (Manugistics JDA); truck on-board computer software (XATA); dispatch software (CAMS).
Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
Must be able to manage effectively in a team environment.
Strong leadership skills, ability to mentor staff.
Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
Proven track record of cost reduction and increased productivity.
Strong labor relations skills including contract administration, negotiations and arbitrations.
Excellent operations planning and follow up.
Expert knowledge and experience in operating within the guidelines of DOT, OSHA, HEALTH DEPT. and other regulatory agencies.
