Noblis is currently seeking a Software Developer to support the Surface Transportation Team.

This is an opportunity for someone with a background and experience in software develop to support the USDOT Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) programs. Noblis provides technical and programmatic support to the USDOT ITS Joint Program Office (JPO) planning and conducting research activities, coordinating technology deployment programs, and seeking disruptive innovation to transform the increasingly connected and automated world of surface transportation systems.

This individual will work on some or all of the following key projects: Connected Vehicles (CV) misbehavior detection, the USDOT Public Data task, and the Noblis Sponsored research (NSR) project Metropolis of Things (MoT).

  • CV misbehavior detection - for this project the developer will work with Noblis security team to cultivate a standard method to develop critical misbehavior detection procedures that will require to run on a variety of commercial CV products. This will require harden code that is robust enough to run on a fully operational system that is designed to increase mobility and safety on the roads USDOT Public Data task In this project the developer will work with the USDOT data team to find efficient and cost-effective methods to capture, transform, and load terabytes of data coming from USDOT research projects in real-time using cloud-based services. Metropolis of Things (MoT) - In this project the developer will work with Noblis team to enhance Noblis MoT simulation engine developed in Unity3D that simulates and displays the interactions between traffic (surface and air), water, typography and power for any city in the world.

As a member of this dynamic team you will participate in the following activities: Working with a team to develop and modify existing applications including cloud development, Big Data work, IOTs projects and game engine development Conducting analysis of user needs, requirements and design details Researching new software tools and technologies to solve complex problems. Working in SCRUM and Kanban Agile teams Assisting USDOT program managers with technical activities


  • BS required; Degree(s) in at least one of the following: Computer Science, or Mathematics. 0-3 years of experience with software development Knowledge of Web Design, Cloud development, and gaming engine (Unity 3d) Strong analytical abilities required Self-starter that can work independently Excellent oral and written communication skills required Strong professional, interpersonal, and organizational skills

Candidate demonstrates the following: Strong understanding of software development including unit testing, continuous integration, agile and security. Works independently to determine approach to and technical objectives of work assignments Ensures client objectives for quality, schedule, and budget are met or exceeded through direct and creative approaches Interacts with client representatives on technical and project matters Identifies and develops solutions to program problems

Preferred Qualifications:

An understanding of, and familiarity with, the following is a plus: Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) Experience with Unity 3D engine Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) Experience with data analysis and visualization tools
