PAY AND BENEFITS

Hourly Pay Range: $19.053703 - $24.266447

Salary offers will be made within the posted pay range and will be based on a candidate's experience (paid or unpaid) that is directly relevant to the position.

A temporary status or seasonal status position receives EAP benefits only. Employees will accrue one (1) hour of sick leave for every thirty (30) hours worked with a maximum accrual of eighty (80) hours per year.

JOB DETAILS AND QUALIFICATIONS

Clackamas County's Social Services Division is seeking to fill two part-time, temporary Transportation Shuttle Driver positions in support of the Transportation Reaching People (TRP) program. The program provides transportation to residents of Clackamas County who are older adults or those who experience a disability. Transportation Shuttle Drivers will drive program participants to medical appointments, personal business, and to access food and socialization opportunities.

In addition to driving one or two full-day shifts per week, the Transportation Shuttle Drivers will help secure riders, provide outstanding customer service, practice defensive driving, complete daily route planning and recordkeeping, and clean and report vehicle maintenance and repair issues. As a part of a team of drivers, these positions will also offer support and backup coverage for transportation shifts as needed.

Required Minimum Qualifications/ Transferrable Skills:*

  • A minimum of six (6) months of related experience that would provide the required knowledge and skills to perform the responsibilities of this position

  • Must have a proven safe driving record that meets all criteria as established by Clackamas County and transportation program requirements

  • Experience or knowledge using navigation tools, including maps and GPS

  • Experience providing customer service including strong communication skills

  • Experience utilizing strong organizational and time management skills

Preferred Special Qualifications/ Transferrable Skills:*

  • Experience operating a passenger van and identifying repair and maintenance issues

  • Experience using transportation service dispatch software and online systems

  • Experience working with clients who may be unpredictable and require flexibility, including physical and mental health challenges

  • Experience working with older adults and/or adults with disabilities

Pre-Employment Requirements:

  • Driving is required for County business on a regular basis or to accomplish work. Incumbents must possess a valid driver's license, and possess and maintain an acceptable driving record throughout the course of employment. Learn more about the County's driving policy.

TYPICAL TASKS

Duties may include but are not limited to the following:

  • Transport seniors and people with disabilities in a safe and efficient manner. Follow assigned schedule to ensure riders' appointment times are met. Follow safe and defensive driving procedures. Properly secure riders. Provide excellent customer service. Be courteous and friendly. Show respect to the diverse range of clients served in the program. Substitute for other paid drivers when needed.

  • Complete daily route planning.

  • Complete all daily records and logs accurately and on time.

  • Complete all required driver training.

  • Report any needed maintenance or repair issues. Report any safety concerns to Program Coordinator. Monitor routine and scheduled maintenance.

  • Clean vehicles.

  • Collect ride donations. Submit to Program Coordinator in a timely manner.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Duties are performed primarily within a motor vehicle with some exposure to outside elements, including inclement weather and traffic hazards. This classification requires the ability to push, lift, or move objects, and stand, walk, and sit.

WORK SCHEDULE

This position works one or two, eight-hour shifts per week, during a standard workweek of Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m.

  • 5:00 p.m. Specific working days will be discussed with the candidate selected for this position at the time an offer of employment is extended. This position is designated as on-site/in-person. It is expected that the selected candidate will perform duties at the specified on-site work location.
