Purpose: The purpose of a Transportation Scheduler/Dispatcher is to provide support within the student transportation services area with specific responsibilities for assisting in the planning and coordination of bus routes and schedules; dispatch drivers and equipment required for transportation of students on regular and special schedules; process service requests pertaining to routine and emergency maintenance issues; maintain department records in accordance with mandated requirements; coordinate assigned projects. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school and two (2) years of dispatching related duties, bus driving experience or equivalent.

VUSD LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS: California Class A or B Driver's License.

California Special Driver's Certificate for School Buses. Medical Certificate.

PROMOTIONAL TESTING. Open only to current employees of the District only with the selection process resulting in one (1) Eligibility List that will be used to fill current vacancies and any future vacancies that occur within one (1) year.

The process may consist of an evaluation and scoring of application materials, written testing, oral interview and/or performance test to evaluate the applicant's skill, training and experience.
