Job Overview
Direct and coordinate district transportation routing for special needs and regular education students. Oversee bus routing to ensure safe and efficient operation of the Transportation Department. Assign and maintain field trips.
Responsibilities and Duties
Possess Knowledge of computers and Windows-based programs.
Responsible for bus routing (Experience in Transfinder Routefinder Pro would be helpful). Program and plan transportation routes including, but not limited to, regular routes, Special Needs, and McKinney-Vento.
Assist with route coordination.
Assign trips and maintain trip rotation list.
On call to answer questions, assist with or drive/reassign (in the event of no show) any trips occurring outside of regular school hours.
Assist answering phones.
Assist as substitute bus driver as needed.
Assist staff with questions regarding bus routing information.
Assist with dispatch duties.
Assist with on-going and initial training and know the skills test for all bus drivers.
Attend department meetings and assist with presentations/ongoing training as needed.
Assist as needed with reporting of all training to Department of Education.
Facilitate the operation of department in the absence of Director and Asst Director.
Additional duties as assigned by Director of Transportation.
Qualifications
High School diploma. College preferred.
Pass a DOT physical and drug screen.
Experience in transportation preferred.
Prior experience working with Routefinder Pro routing software preferred, but not required.
CDL (possess/obtain/maintain a yellow card). All other endorsements needed to drive a school bus or willingness to obtain this requirement.
Pass background check.
