As a Highway/Roadway Project Manager, you'll have the chance to manage a multi-discipline team of technical resources in delivering transportation projects, and will assist in forming client outreach strategy and relationship development actions, identify key pursuits and lead positioning efforts. Working with other members of the team, you'll share in our internal structure which promotes autonomy and allows for great opportunities to deliver local projects in Idaho but to also be involved in delivering transportation solutions to clients in the Western U.S. and beyond. Your knowledge of the local area transportation community including special authorities, key stakeholders, and short- and long-range transportation improvement plans as well as your experience with taking local roadway and highway projects from conceptual design through final PS&E will be key to your success.   • BS degree in Civil Engineering or related engineering discipline

  • At least years of progressive experience in highway design projects

  • At least 5 years of project management experience

  • Professional

Engineering registration (PE), or the ability to obtain licensure within 6 months of hire

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite programs (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint), AutoCAD, Microstation, and Inroads design software and knowledge of state-of-the-art highway design technologies

The Opportunity: WSDOT Eastern Region is seeking multiple temporary engineering technicians to perform skilled technical work in support of activities for construction, design and PS&E phases of WSDOT projects. In this high impact role, the selected individuals will provide essential skills for the delivery of critical tasks and will be a part of the foundation for project delivery. You will be working in varied environments, such as out in the field, in an office atmosphere, and in the laboratory. Please note these are non-permanent positions lasting three to five months. Candidates will be considered as a Transportation Technician 1, Transportation Technician 2, or Transportation Technician 3, depending on qualifications. These positions will perform the following work: * Assist with the inspection of construction work for conformance with the contract. * Perform materials sampling, testing, data input, and documentation. * Measure and calculate quantities, and prepare notes to support payment for activities inspected. * Check calculations including elevations, grades, and earthwork. * Assist in surveying, scoping, design, and PS&E development. * Assist Office Engineer with documentation as needed. * Visibly demonstrate your commitment to the Department's safety program. * Communicate both orally and in writing, and work in a cooperative and courteous manner with the public, contractors, supervisors, and other department staff. * Other duties as assigned. To be considered at the Transportation Technician 1 level, a candidate is required to have: * Graduation from high school or GED equivalent. To be considered at the Transportation Technician 2 level, a candidate is required to have at least one of the following: * High school diploma/GED AND two (2) years of experience performing basic technical engineering work as a Transportation Technician 1 or equivalent. College level or vocational/technical course work in engineering, drafting, survey, mathematics or close related fields will substitute for the required technical engineering experience on a year-for-year basis. * Three (3) years minimum experience as a Maintenance Technician or above; one (1) year must be as a Maintenance Technician 2 or higher. * An Associate's degree in Civil Engineering or related field. * Completion of technical program of at least 1,200 instructional hours. To be considered at the Transportation Technician 3 level, a candidate is required to have at least one of the following: * Two (2) years of experience performing semi-skilled technical engineering work as a Transportation Technician 2 or equivalent. * A Bachelor's degree in Engineering or closely related field. * Certification as an Engineer-in-Training. * A Land Surveyor's license. An ideal candidate at any level will also have: * The ability to perform, check, and interpret engineering calculations. * The ability to transport, manipulate, and move materials and equipment weighing up to 50 lbs. * Ability to work in an outdoor environment to include all weather conditions, navigating uneven terrain, confined spaces, noise, airborne dust, heights and next to traffic. * Flexibility to adjust work schedule to coincide with contractor activities including the ability to travel as needed, work nights, long hours, and/or out of town. * The ability to maintain valid driver's license. * Western Alliance for Quality Transportation Construction qualified tester certification (preferred). * American Concrete Institute qualified tester certification (preferred).
