The Project Engineer acts as an authorized agent of the company and is responsible for delivering technically sound products that meet and exceed the needs of clients. Makes significant design decisions in cooperation with Project Managers on assigned projects, where applicable. May be responsible for assisting with marketing, business development, project management and client communication on a limited and assigned basis.

1.Uses professional judgment to independently complete engineering tasks within federal, state and local established criteria.
2.Under the direction of the Project Manager, assigns and manages tasks and schedules to Staff Engineer (I/II) and non-exempt project team members.
3.Ensures the accuracy of completed tasks through the use of established HR Green QA/QC processes established for each project.
4.Completes major design tasks that meet the needs of internal and external customers.
5.Monitors and pro-actively identifies or corrects technical, schedule or financial issues through effective communication with the Project Manager or other management staff.
6.Assists the Client in bidding or contractor selection if authorized by the Project Manager.
7.Monitors construction and supervises field personnel assigned to a task, data collection or a specific project.
8.Responds to contractor questions and issues and prepares and issues project addenda as needed.
9.Recommends and prepares change orders, if authorized by the Project Manager.
10. May participate in preparation of engineering services proposals, including the calculation/estimation of time schedules and costs of the proposed work.
11. Signs and seals engineering documents as an authorized representative of the company.
12. Independently communicates on technical matters with the client.


Must have a Bachelor's or Master's degree in engineering, and be professionally registered (P.E.) in one or more states in which HR Green, Inc. conducts business (or have the ability to obtain such registration within six months of employment). Must have received authorization from the Sector Leader (based on the Team Leaders assessment and recommendation) to act as an authorized agent of the company to sign engineering documents. Must have 5 years of design/engineering experience. Must have advanced knowledge of office automation, CADD and engineering automation tools including Microsation/ geopak


Must possess strong technical verbal and technical writing skills, and be able to read technical literature and engineering plans.


Must be capable of correctly operating technical analysis equipment and computer equipment. Must possess strong analytical and problem solving skills, and be able to apply professional knowledge to the solution of both routine and non-routine tasks and engineering activities.


Acts as an authorized agent of the company and signs engineering documents.


This position may report to assigned Group Manager or Practice Leader. Responsible for providing mentoring to less-experienced staff members in order to upgrade the overall talent level in the company and shows a willingness to help others meet critical deadlines.


Must hold current registered Professional Engineer certification in his/her state of residence or have the ability to obtain such registration within six months of employment. The employee must be capable of driving/operating a motor vehicle for company business, and maintain a valid driver's license in the state of residence.


Work is performed primarily in an office environment, requiring the use of office equipment. Equipment includes, but is not limited to, computer, telephone, fax machine, copier, printer, etc.

The noise level in the office is moderate. While performing the duties of this job, employee is regularly required to stand, sit, talk and hear. Must frequently orally convey detailed or important information, instructions or ideas intelligently, accurately and quickly.

Able to hear and understand average or normal conversations. Average, ordinary visual acuity necessary to prepare or inspect documents, products or see computer screen.

Your Opportunity The role of a Civil Engineer is to work independently on smaller projects, and as a team member of a larger project under the guidance of a Senior Engineer. The Civil Engineer should be able to evaluate, select, specify, and engineer systems or products for a project. A Civil Engineer will provide immediate supervision and guidance to a group of employees, assigning tasks, checking work at frequent intervals for accuracy and completeness; and maintaining schedules. A Civil Engineer will perform a variety of tasks which may include designing and planning structures and facilities such as bridges, railroads, roads, airports, harbors, dams, irrigation projects, pipelines, tunnels, power plants and other projects. They will analyze proposed projects to ensure structural reliability, resource efficiency and cost-effectiveness and may construct models to identify project specifications and meet related needs. Your Key Responsibilities * Performs complex engineering design tasks on assigned projects. * May be responsible for the review and sealing of own projects or the work of the others. * Responsible for planning, scheduling, conducting and coordinating the technical aspects of assigned projects. * Prepares project plans and drawings for various projects including urban and rural roadways, highways, rail, transit, trails, intersections and traffic signals. * Prepares construction contract documents, project proposals, change orders, plans and reports. * Performs calculations using company standard software and proprietary manufacturer software. * Performs research, obtains traffic data, makes calculations and conducts transportation analyses. * Conducts basic interpretations of drawings, codes, and other similar materials. * Conducts quality assurance and quality control on own projects. * Coordinates with clients, regulatory/resource agencies, and local governments. * Resolves technical project issues, presents reports and designs, and provides service to meet client's goals. * Monitors own work and that of project team to ensure budgets and schedules are being met. * Utilizes relevant software programs to prepare exhibits and complex working drawings. * Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned. Your Capabilities and Credentials * Ability to effectively discuss project issues with clients and reviewing agencies. * Thorough understanding of codes, legal and design requirements in relevant jurisdictions. * Ability to solve complex problems using sound professional judgement, creativity, and innovation. * Proficient in AutoCAD Civil3D, MicroStation, InRoads and any other relevant design software. * Proficient in Microsoft (MS) Office Suite. * Experience with 3-D Modeling and graphic presentation. * Strong knowledge of the Department of Transportation's legal requirements, and design/planning procedures in relevant jurisdictions. * Ability to participate and collaborate in project team setting, engage in creative and critical though, and effectively communicate ideas, design issues and solutions to others. * Ability to create and interpret sketches, drawings, and various exhibits.
