Serves as a technical statewide expert for the maintenance of the JobNet application required to facilitate the programming of transportation projects and creation/review/approval of the federal and state mandated multi-billion-dollar State Transportation Improvement Program (STIP) and Five-Year Transportation Program (5TYP) as well as serving as the Planning Database point of contact for coordinating and leading multiple interdisciplinary teams in relations, providing guidance, performance measurement of assigned tasks, quality control review, and direction over employees in various areas of the department, creating department alignment. This position administers and serves as the primary resource of the statewide coordination of the highly technical and complex maintenance of the JobNet application required to facilitate the programming of transportation projects and creation/review/approval of the federal and state mandated multi-billion-dollar State Transportation Improvement Program (STIP), the Five-Year Transportation Program (5TYP), as well as the Planning Database which houses data critical for SMART reporting, publishing maps, TIP reports, and over 40 downstream applications. This position serves as technical consultant and liaison for technical coordination of subject matter experts from various MDOT business areas such as Bureau of Finance, Statewide Planning Division, Bridge Management, MDOT Regions, Local Agency Programs, Office of Passenger Transportation, and Office of Rail; personnel from the Department of Technology, Management and Budget (DTMB) including representatives from the Statewide Integrated Governmental Management Applications (SIGMA); and external organizations such as Metropolitan Planning Organizations (MPO's), Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), Federal Transit Authority (FTA) and others.

Education
Possession of a bachelor's degree in any major with at least 30 semester (45 term) credits in one or a combination of the following: planning (city, community, environmental, regional, and/or urban), environmental studies and/or sustainability, engineering, statistics, mathematics, geography, geographic/geospatial information systems, logistics and/or supply chain management, or economics.
Experience
Four years of professional experience equivalent to a Transportation Planner, including two years equivalent to a Transportation Planner P11 or one year equivalent to a Transportation Planner 12.
