ABOUT THE POSITION
VHB's Orlando, FL office is seeking a Transportation Planner or Civil Engineer to join their Project Development & Environment (PD&E) group. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a dynamic team, across diverse disciplines, giving you exposure to a wide variety of projects in size and scope.
Responsibilities
Work within a team of professionals in developing Project Development & Environment (PD&E) studies, PD&E documents, transportation planning studies, corridor studies, and transportation master and action plans
Occasional field data collection
Assist with development of support materials for public involvement activities, organizing public meeting logistics, and attending public meetings
Support with authorship of project-related documentation for a range of transportation planning and environment studies, demographic analyses, and multi-modal / transit-oriented projects
Read and write summaries of large documents
Prepare, edit and summarize technical reports and analyses.
Document management for numerous project documents.
Conduct planning assessments using analytical tools such as GIS to evaluate data, identify trends, and develop documentation to summarize results
Attend client meetings and provide meeting summary of items discussed
Organize work plans and weekly monitoring of progress on tasks and activities
Skills and Attributes
Strong Organizational skills to manage multiple reports for multiple projects
Excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills
Very strong writing skills with experience in writing technical report documents
Team-oriented with strong capability to work independently
Excellent attention to detail
A strong work ethic with the desire to learn and achieve
The ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
Occasional travel to client meetings and presentations
Qualifications
Candidates must have a BS in Civil Engineering, Urban Planning, or related field
Minimum 3 to 5 years' experience
5-8 years experience preferred
Demonstrated experience working on FDOT PD&E projects
Experience with FDOT's Statewide Environmental Project Tracker (SWEPT) is preferred
Proficiency with Microsoft Office/Project, FDOT's Environmental Screening Tool, and ESRI GIS applications desired
